Tidworth Garrison Golf Club
Golf is incredibly peaceful at Tidworth; at any time you only view a handful of golfers as the layout meanders its way around the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain. From the higher ground are some striking views over Salisbury Plain. Whilst the course owes its existence to the military (in 1895 the war department began development of a major military training area in Tidworth); Tidworth Garrison Golf Club owes an even greater debt to legendary golf course architect Harry Shapland Colt. H.S. Colt is world-renown for such golfing jewels as Muirfield, Sunningdale and Wentworth. When designing a course, Mr. Colt's vision began with a survey of the land, deciding where best to site his greens. First to be chosen were normally the short holes and this is perfectly displayed at our 5th & 13th holes, both of which are superb, one-shot holes. The 12th & 16th are both wonderful golf holes, with the 17th almost as testing and arguably the prettiest. With a par and Standard Scratch Score of 70, Tidworth remains a genuine test of golf, even with modern equipment.Contact Information

A good course that has some challenging holes. Bears up well in the dark, winter months better than many. Nice clubhouse too. Guest fees are very good value for money.

I have now played on this course 7 times and no hole is ever the same,the veiws over Salisbury Plain are breathtaking and you never feel rushed to play your round.
Would advise any learner golfer in the area to take a look at this course and i can gaurentee you will com back for more.

Really surprised at how good this course was for the green fee. Set on chalk downs of Salisbury plains, so the fairways & green almost have a link feel about them. Well drained and firm. Also some great views and a lovely hole coming back down towards the clubhouse to finish.

I have played this course countless times and it always beats me. To the eye it's not a difficult course, but it can very easily catch you out. Undulating and interesting holes make for a challenge that keeps me coming back even if I've never shot my handicap here!
The clubhouse is adequate with recent renovations making it much more welcoming than in the past. I recommend a game here.

A good test of golf. Let down by rock hard greens that are almost impossible to stop on unless you have a wedge in your hand, and even then its a test.

This course is a good challenge of golf for any handicap. Greens are a little difficult with subtle contours. It is undulating and can be tiring if doing 36 holes in a day. The surrounding country is fine with hill views every where. Some views are spoilt by ministry of defence land having tank tracks scar the landscape. You certainly need to think your way round. Now I have played it twice in the same day I feel I would score better next time.
