Really nicely look after course.
There are Better course , there are worse.
I liked the fact that this course gets you thinking. One par 4 your looking at a 7 iron off the tee. Nice mixture here. No 2 hole the same.
Some greens had a few pitch marks which always lets it down.
All in all I would go back.

I played the main course at Three Rivers today (Kings course) as I am currently looking for a new Golf Club to join that\'s a bit closer to home (I currently travel about 30 miles to North Weald golf club). Three Rivers is actually my local home course, but in the 5 years I have lived in my area I have never thought about playing it for one reason or another. We turned up an hour before our tee time as agreed with our contact at Three Rivers to discuss membership prices, packages and various other items. We received a warm welcome in the well stocked pro shop which sells everything from balls, tees and gloves to clubs and wet weather gear. We were moved into the main clubhouse, which offers superb bar and cafe facilities and were offered complimentary coffee whilst we sat and discussed the relevant items. Our contact was happy to sit and chat with us and spent a great deal of time ensuring we were happy with everything that had been relayed to us. So far so good!We moved out onto the golf course and immediately found the course to be in excellent condition especially considering we are still technically in winter and it was a wet day in general. The fairways were well cut and maintained, and the greens were in good condition although it was obvious they had left the grass very slightly longer over the winter period to protect the greens which meant they were quite slow - we questioned this and the club confirmed once the weather improves they will be cut to full championship spec. The course itself offers quite a stern test of your golfing abilities and has a number of undulating fairways, water hazards and a few dog leg type holes. All yardages below are from the White tees,Hole 1 (347 yards) - Requires a good drive up the hill between two bunkers either side of the fairway. The green is reachable in two but is protected by two bunkers to the front. The green is also quite small so accuracy is key.Hole 2 (352 yards) - A straight forward hole, providing you keep your drive to the left hand side of the fairway. Green is easily reachable in two but don\'t go too far as it\'s OOB beyond the green.Hole 3 (515 yards) - One of Three Rivers \"signature\" holes. Long drive off the tee is ideal but don\'t pull it left as it\'s OOB. For most your second will be a layup to around 75 yds short of the green which is protected by a large pond to the front and a bunker to the right of the green.Hole 4 (484 yards) - The first of the dog legs and this one is to the left. The fairway is heavily guarded by trees down both sides and is fairly narrow. Most will not need the driver, with a longer iron getting you to the turn. From there it\'s a further 250 yards to the green.Hole 5 (380) - A drive down the left side of the fairway will give you the best approach down the fairway. Green isn\'t an issue in two for most but you will need to keep your second to the right to keep clear of green side bunkers.Hole 6 (414 yards) - Second dog leg is to the right, and you need to hit your drive well to get over the tall trees and onto the fairway. It then around 180 to the green which has bunkers either side.Hole 7 (370 yards) - Position is key here and you only need to go 225 onto the fairway to get a 150 yard short to the green.Hole 8 (393 yards) - Hit your drive straight down the middle for an easy approach to the green which slopes left to right.Hole 9 (169 yards) - First of the par three\'s on the course. You need to go long enough to carry the bunker on the right.Hole 10 (361 yards) - Again not a long hole but positioning is key for a good approach. Stay to the right for the best line into the greenHole 11 (335 yards) - Another dog leg, this one is to the right and there are trees down both sides of the fairway. Long iron for most will get you to the corner, which will leave you with a 130-140 yard shot into the green which has a larger bunker to the front right.Hole 12 (336 yards) - A fairly short par 4 which just needs a good drive to leave you with a short wedge onto the green.Hole 13 (385 yards) - Another dog leg right which will need a long iron to get to the corner. From there a mid iron should get most to the green.Hole 14 (483 yards) - Fondly named \"cardiac hill\" by the locals, and it is a bit of a climb. Aim your drive over the post in the middle of the fairway, and those that hit long could find themselves able to reach the green in 2.Hole 15 (135 yards) - A very short par 3 at only 135 yards from the White tees. The green is a fairly large target but is protected by bunkers on the right. Defiantly a biddy opportunity.Hole 16 (184 yards) - A downhill par 3 which plays shorter than the 184 suggested especially if the wind is behind. A long iron should get most to the green for your second biddy opportunity in as many holes, but beware the green is guarded on all sides by bunkers.Hole 17 (420 yards) - A solid drive is called for here to get yourself in a good position to approach the green. Keep to the right as the fairway towards the green slopes left.Hole 18 (386 yards) - A nice hole to finish on, albeit a bit a challenge. Another blind drive over the hill will leave you with the choice of either laying up in front of the very well guarded green (pond to the right of the green) or going for it and risking a blow up on the final hole. All in all we found the whole experience to be very good indeed. Excellent facilities, good course with plenty of challenges to overcome and all at a reasonable price whether your joining the club via membership (roughly £950 for the year), or playing a single round (£20). It should also be noted that if you take membership at Three Rivers, you also get access to the other course run by the owner of Three Rivers which is Stock Brook manor near Billericay - although this is only on weekdays.Highly recommended.

First time played the Kings Course and enjoyed it. I should imagine it is a completely different challenge in the Summer when the trees are in full leaf, but most of the holes make you think and it is not just a case of getting the driver out and giving it a welly. The only hole I found disconcerting was the the long par 5 14th whish is a blind tee shot with a sharp uphill left to right slope on the fairway - not a great hole even if you hit a reasonable tee shot! Otherwise - the course is heartly recommended and great value too.

Considering the wear and tear this course endures, it is kept in pretty good nick. Currently an experiment being applied where the original 3rd hole has become the 5th with original holes 12 and 13 now becoming the 4th and 3rd holes respectively - apparently in an effort to free up blockages on some of the par 3s. It works OK, although there is now a long walk between the 13th and 14th! Overall, a great little course that is perfect for keeping your game going over the winter months.

Very nice course to play and the clubhouse is also very good. The only thing i would criticise is the tee off boxes are not level so you have an up or down slope for teeing off. Not a major problem but worth a mention. All in all a good course and well worth a visit.

Does not appear to drain well, as after two or three days rain, some greens and tee boxes were starting to appear sodden. The majority of bunkers were unplayable as all contained water. However, still a very enjoyable

Have now played the Kings twice and really enjoyed it. The first was a twilight which was excellant value the second was a sunday pm which I thought was a bit rich but nevertheless still probably just worth the money.

Played the Jubilee course which is the smaller of the two courses. There are no par 5s on this course and the par 4s are not the longest in the world, also eight of the holes are par 3s but half of them are very tricky and if you walk away with a par you are happy. at least three of them are over 200 yards with 2 or 3 bunkers guarding the holes and the greens can be tricky and generally turn one way or the other with hardly any flat greens. Also if your playing into the wind those 200 yard par 3s are very hard to hit,you will have to hit your best 3wood and pray.I only paid a fiver as i went with a couple of members at that price its golfing heaven, but normal price i think is £13.00 and i think i would rather go to a course that's a bit more challenging for around the same price that's not a par 64 but a par 70 0r 72.

Played a society day there, outstanding day. the grounds were impeccable i would recommend the course to anybody. challenging but fair.
Played 9 holes in the morning then the full 18 in the afternoon, some very challenging holes especially the 14th(known as cardiac hill) a par 5 only downside was the fact that there are 2 par threes one after another but you can live with that after the 14th
the day was well organised and the staff were very helpful

A very good challenging course. Decent yardage for medium / big hitters distance golfers, bunkers could do with an improvement of size and sand. Very good well stocked pro shop, excellent changing rooms and a very good spike bar(& menu) with multiple sports screens.

Played on a bright Autumnal day. Bit of a mix up with the Internet booking, but club were very helpful and squeezed us in. Played off the whites, which I'm sure is the best way. Nothing too difficult, though a bad shot would be rightly punished. Greens were in great condition, quick and all consistent. Great views over Essex on the turn round by the 14/15/16. Weekend round for £ 28, played worse conditioned courses for more this year, greenkeeping staff deserve a pat on the back !!

Played the Jubilee for first time today and must say what a cracking little course it is. Just 4284yds of par 3s and par 4s, but I thought it was well laid out with some tricky placed bunkers, ditches and trees. The fairways and greens were well looked after and the staff very friendly and helpful. Booked through onlineteetimes and so 2 of us enjoyed our round for only £8 each. Fantastic bargain.

Love the Kings course, we have held our works society day here for the past few years. Allways found the greens and fairways to be in very good condition and although there are a couple of holes that require a well positioned tee shot this course is suitable for all handicaps. Staff are very friendly and helpful, food is excellent, facilities are good and the value for money is great. Recommended.
