Theale Golf Club
Theale Golf Course, designed and constructed by owner Mike Lowe, was founded in 1996. Set in 150 acres in the Berkshire countryside, this young, yet quickly established 18 hole golf course offers an interesting and enjoyable game for golfers of all abilities.
Although flat this parkland course is deceptively challenging. Holes varying in length from 145 yards to 530 yards (off the yellow tees), and numerous hazards in between ensures a game at Theale Golf Club remains interesting throughout.
The doglegs demand precise drives such as the 14th – if you clear the water hazard you may be in with a birdie chance – and par 3’s guarded by water or sand traps (such as 6th and 13th respectively) form quality tests of golf.
Water is featured on six holes and approximately 60 bunkers of varying shapes and sizes ensure your skills continually are tested.
The elevated tees on the 11th (yellow tee) and the 13th (white tee) both provide panoramic views over the attractive course. Contact Information

Fantastic value at £10 for 18 holes twilight. However, the fairways were not in good conditions and the temporary green on 12th was an absolute joke.
For £10 though I am very happy with the experience.

Played this after a HUGE downpour the night before, so I probably didn't see this course at its best. However, with the exception of one fairway where it was too wet for me to retrieve my ball, plus a couple of greens that were also struggling, it wasn't too bad other than being generally wet underfoot.
I think that once this course matures it will be a very nice place to play, but that maybe that is still a few years away. There are some nice holes here, with the 6th being a pretty par 3. If that's the good then the bad and the ugly follow at the 7th, where the green is to the left of a huge electricty pylon.
Nice clubhouse and very friendly staff.

The course is undergoing changes at the moment, I feel that it improves every year.
The greens suffered some damage last year but when they grow back they will be better than ever.

Quite a tricky course with thin fairways. I would say this is a challenging course that is a good course to improve you game. I think it is over priced however for its quality. The club has a friendly atmosphere but could definitely do with a spruce up all over, especially the driving range!

The course is challenging with fairly wide fairways and a wide second cut. Beyond that the rough will steal your ball. The course has a number of drainage ditches crossing fairways and these are not always obvious. The club is about to improve the signing around the course and is also producing yardage charts to assist members and visitors.

Rough was very penal just off the fairway (for a public course) and on some holes the grass cuttings were in place. Fairways and greens were good.
