Beautiful (but pricey) Stoke Park
A wonderful course, beautiful setting but for what you pay, you would expect a little more fine-tuning.The 1st hole has recently been downgraded to a par 4, somewhat disappointingly and therefore some of the bunkering is a little out of kilter. The pretty and tough par 3 3rd requires solid ball-striking, as does the 4th, a long dogleg par 4 which requires a fade off the tee to set up a medium iron to the green. The signature par 3 7th is famously the model on which the 16th at Augusta was created, and requires some delicate putting to avoid a three-whack. The back 9 starts with a gentle par 4, followed by another beauty of a par 3, framed by trees from the tee and featuring water and a false front. the dogleg-left 14th returns you towards the clubhouse, followed by the only non-descript par 3 on the course at 15, which would be better off for some decoration between tee and green. 16 and 17 are both strong par 4s which require accurate approaches, before the uphill 18th allows for a birdie chance to finish in glory in front of the adorning drinkers on the balconies.
The greens were quick and true on the most part, but given the hot and dry summer, it can be expected that they might be a little parched. I was a little disappointed by the level of manicuring of the fringe grasses across the course and some of the tee boxes weren't in great shape either. Having said that, these are minor gripes on what is truly a great, parkland course which I'd happily play several times over. the green fee is steep, but you do, for the most part, get what you pay for.

Always a tough but fair challenge and fantastic greens
I recently played in the Stoke Park Trophy which is their men's scratch open. Playing from the blue tees, an already pretty long course is even longer, even with the now shortened and par 4 first (previously a par 5). The extreme hot weather however means the fairways are firm and running (even despite them being watered) so the course doesn't feel too long. Greens were fantastic (running at 11 on the stimp meter), rolling true with plenty of subtle breaks and firm but holding good shots.Reviewer Rating

Top class and excellent bunker improvements
I first played this course back in 2007 whilst it is high on my list of courses I have played I'll be honest and say I couldn't remember that much and the bunkers didn't really spring to mind. Having now played again in 2017 I can say the course is still exceptional and ranks up there in my list of courses but the bunkers, the bunkers, yes the bunkers! There are lots of them, exceptionally well kept and a great addition to this challenge. As you would expect the course condition, layout and alround experience is suprerby. A course you should definitely take the time to play and experience that 'James Bond/Gold Finger' moment on the 18th.
I did play off the whites during my round and that would be my only critisim in that the whites were almost too far back and the layout and hole view off the yellows seemed much better. That said, most visitors will play from the yellows anyway.

Stoke Park Twilight New Bunkers
This course is honestly one of the best I have ever played, it is expensive but the quality of the course layout and facilities are amazing. The new bunkers make it much harder and a good challenge.(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 98 Handicap: 20.5)
