Shrivenham Park Golf Club
There has been a golf course on the present site since 1966, with the full 18 holes being completed in 1969. In May of that year the course was officially opened by former Open champion, Max Faulkner and Ryder Cup star, Brian Barnes (see thumbnails below).
Now a mature course set in 110 acres, Shrivenham Park has developed a deserved reputation as offering a good and interesting test for golfers of all abilities. Most memorable is the course's own version of 'Amen Corner' - holes 5, 6 and 7 - which is always a talking point amongst visitors and members alike. Contact Information

Played it many times, its a bit cheaper and very easy to get a round at short notice. Holes 5, 6 & 7 can ruin your round as they are very tough but back 9 plays quite easy. Some of the tees cross each other so can mean a bit of a wait. Still a good test for the higher handicappers where they can feel comfortable amongst the more regular players.

This scruffy, unkempt course seems to have been squeezed into a space too small for it. At times it seemed downright dangerous with shouts of fore having people ducking on greens, tees and fairways simultaneously. The greens were rock-hard and unreceptive but so slow that putts needed to be hit rather than stroked. To describe 5,6 & 7 as aversion of amen corner is at best a flight of fancy and at worst a heinous misrepresentation.

Excellent test of golf. Although short, you need to find the fairways to score well. It seems to get better every time you play there.

Excellent course and friendly club, although course is difficult for beginners due to narrow fairways.

V.F.M. because we have a corporate membership thru work. Course is ok but criss-crosses on many holes. Plays tight in places & a good place to "swing your bats"
