What the club says: Sheerness Golf Club was founded in 1909, and is a traditional private member’s club located on the Isle of Sheppey in the Thames Estuary, Kent. The course is a mature semi-Links 18 hole course which was once described in Golf Monthly as one of Kents best kept secrets.
Hard course in the wind very undulating and uneven underfoot
(Round played: Oct 2015 - Score: 98 Handicap: 17.9)
Described as 'semi links' the majority of the course is built on flat land with ditches and ponds to find your wayward drives. Part of the course is on a hill which provides a break from hitting it up and down adjacent fairways, although the design and layout has been cleverly thought out so you're never too far away from hitting it into the wind.
The bunkers are well sanded, providing the nice change that wayward approaches caught in a trap are not the gamble they can be at some courses!
The members seem friendly, certainly the ones I have encountered and, although I haven't stayed long enough to sample the bar, the staff, both in the clubhouse and greenkeepers, are courteous and helpful.
All in all I'd certainly recommend a visit to the island and a round here at Sheerness. (Round played: Oct 2014 - Score: 91 Handicap: 18.1)
