What the club says: Sheerness Golf Club was founded in 1909, and is a traditional private member’s club located on the Isle of Sheppey in the Thames Estuary, Kent. The course is a mature semi-Links 18 hole course which was once described in Golf Monthly as one of Kents best kept secrets.

This is the second time I've visited Sheerness. It's not in the prettiest location and is kind of tucked away, but it's a real find. I have never seen it crowded and, being a lone golfer the majority of the time, this helps me get a cheeky round in before the school run! But it isn't quiet because of any failings. The green fee is reasonable. There are cheaper nearby, but not in as good all round condition as this. The greens and tee boxes are a credit to the ground staff.
Described as 'semi links' the majority of the course is built on flat land with ditches and ponds to find your wayward drives. Part of the course is on a hill which provides a break from hitting it up and down adjacent fairways, although the design and layout has been cleverly thought out so you're never too far away from hitting it into the wind.
The bunkers are well sanded, providing the nice change that wayward approaches caught in a trap are not the gamble they can be at some courses!
The members seem friendly, certainly the ones I have encountered and, although I haven't stayed long enough to sample the bar, the staff, both in the clubhouse and greenkeepers, are courteous and helpful.
All in all I'd certainly recommend a visit to the island and a round here at Sheerness. (Round played: Oct 2014 - Score: 91 Handicap: 18.1)

First time that I have visited this course. Played on a twilight and was pleasantly surprised. Much tougher than it looks. Small fairways, punished if you were in the rough. Lots of greens domed so needed your thinking cap on when pitching and chipping. Windy!! Proper links golf (Round played: May 2014 - Score: 78 Handicap: 8.8)

A semi-Links course where you have to watch out for the wind. A challange on most days but not the most picturesque.

Played on a nice still day would be difficult in the wind as open spaces. Enjoyable though.
