Reddish Vale Golf Club
Designed in 1912 by Dr Alister MacKenzie, Reddish Vale’s reputation amongst golf enthusiasts is second to none with the principles of MacKenzie course design there for all to see. Every hole is a challenge and despite being a short course in this day and age (only 6086 yards long) it will take the ingenuity of all who play it, professional and amateur alike.
There are five short holes, each with their own particular characteristics. The fourth, only stroke 17 has destroyed many a good card. Play it in a wind and see! The enthusiast will marvel at the almost magical use of the landscape and the way the natural contours and valleys are brought into play. Do not forget the River Tame which meanders its way round 7 of the holes offering a watery grave for the errant golf ball.

played this course 26th april, and in excellent nick, greens are fbulous and tricky - typically mckenzie greens, a few of the earlier bunkers were difficult to play out of but later on the sand in them was etter (yes i was in a few - the positive is i was yards from greens in 2 or 3 at least!)
heartbreak hill istough but the rest of it is not too bad altough the par 3 goingdown the hill (6th i think) is a whopping 230 yards! and tough to get closeon a big green. only downside was the desgn around some of the greens/tees folowing across from one another - especially the 15th onwards - plus avid wednesdays - members comp - was very busy

Challenging 18 hole course, very scenic with some lovely elevated tee positions, set in and around valley with river, demanding tactical accuracy.
Requires physical fitness especially on arriving at the 18th hole with high elevated green (definitely a heartbreak hill when pulling a trolley up it)
Enjoyed the course very much and one day, hopefully, will master it.
