Visited Pyle & Kenfig in March 2016. The Professional, Dylan was very friendly and made us feel very welcome, as did their members. He even fixed my mates Odyssey putter, at no charge before going out, a true gent. The club shop is well equipped with some lovely gear, the majority of it carries their club emblem. We went in the bar beforehand to have a full breakfast at around £6-7; superb.
The weather before we were due to go out was terrible, but Dylan recommended that we do the back 9 first in the event we were unable to complete our round. The back 9 was fantastic, a true test of golf, some really amazing holes. P&K are doing some great work around the course, returning the rubble paths to grass as they used to be. The fairways and bunkers were brilliant for the time of year; the greens had been treated so were not in the best condition but I would imagine that they would be fantastic in time. Unfortunately we were unable to complete 18, so feel that we really missed this treat, so hopefully will go back again, well worth the 2 hour drive.
Thanks to Dylan and the team, we had a very enjoyable time despite the weather and would definitely recommend to others.

Had the pleasure of playing P&K today for 25 pounds. The weather was cloudy with no more than a breeze blowing so ideal conditions. Simply put, I doubt if I have had such good value from a green fee before. The course was in lovely condition and the green were a joy to putt on.

First time we played this course. Front 9 is parkland and it is all laid out in front of you not many real blind holes- all solid holes - all well laid out. Then the back 9! Some truly great holes - the type that give you the choice of laying up safely and having a difficult second long shot ... or take on long carries over an expanse of dense gorse. Brilliant, take lots of golf balls and have a go!

An enjoyable knock. The course was in very good condition, all be it a few fairways that were parched. The bunkers were as good as any i have played on a links, the sand was firm allowing for a positive attack. The greens were very good with many an underlation, poor putters beware! As previous reviewers have stated the holes in the sand dunes are brilliant. A very enjoyable day finished off with a pint and good food in a hospitable clubhouse and friendly members. One note to point out, one member was very keen to tell our party thar we should have changed our shoes in the locker rooms rather than in the car park, should this really matter in th e21st century? :-)

Superb course ,friendly clubhouse and members . Very down to earth not at all cliquey. Always a disappointment when you end up playing the inner loop. This misses out the sea holes which are the best holes on the course. The club will do a running scoreboard for you which our members really enjoyed. Food is always top drawer.

Anyone who knows anything about golf and especially Links golf will appreciate that P & K is one of the finest in Wales. Having played it many times (as well as The Royal Porthcawl next door), I can honestly say that the course is a tremedous challenge, especially the back nine. The course is co hosting the British seniors open next year alongside Royal Porthcawl; would the R & A let that happen on any old course ? Believe what you want about these reviews; be the judge yourself and go and play it. You will not be dissapointed I guarantee it.

Could not agree at all with the 1* reviewer Paul C. He says he has not played the back nine but the loop holes so his critique must be taken with a pinch, or at least read as a review of temporary holes, most other courses in the area were closed due to flooding on the day he says he visited. I played on this course last Sunday 10th and the condition considering the time of year and where we are with the water table is frankly extraordinary. In comparison I played the 2010 last Thursday and Roman Road at Celtic Manor both are great courses but I looked like I'd been mud wrestling all day.
Pyle and Kenfig is rich in tournament and Championship history and they will be a qualifying course for the Senior Open championship with final rounds at neighbouring Royal Porthcawl in 2014. I have played at a host of Ryder Cup and Open courses in the UK, Europe and America and I am happy to tell you that P&K is right up there with them and deserves all the plaudits. It is also significantly good value for a championship venue. They also serve the best chips (fries)

What a disappointment. Expecting one of the most renowned courses in Wales, I found it scruffy and uninspiring. Had to play the inner loop of dunes holes as the full course was not open - hard to even identify where the fairway was from the tee on these. On two holes we weren't even allowed to use fairway - had to drop in rough - ridiculous. Most of the holes looked too similar, lacking variety and interest to play - as if the greens had just been randomly placed in sometimes completely unsuitable places. Don't understand how it has gained such a good reputation - unlikely to go back.
