What the club says: Taking advantage of the natural contours of the landscape means that James Braid, course designer, was successful in creating each hole with its own individual demands and character. Not only this, but the greens which are fast and absolutely true have a reputation for being amongst the best in the south west.

At 6296 yards this exciting par 72 is a challenge for both high and low handicappers. It is a course you will want to return to play time and time again.

Real test of your skills

As many as mentioned, it is a rough course, many blind shots rolling fairways and fast beautifully kept greens make this a serious challenge of skill and patience. I will say if you can play well here, you can play well on any links course.

I was lucky to be out with two members, if I was on my own, I would be totally lost, many balls may have lost. With two members help, I had a great round and played whole round with one ball.

Love to be back again … to take challenge and cut down to under 90

Handicap 17.6 and 93 at the end

Tough ans brilliant

It's a beautiful course and true links. Some fairways are so sloping thst even down the middle when it's firm still get punished. And yet it's a rewarding course.

Amazing Course!

This was a real treat to play a proper Links Course while on a short break in Cornwall. The course overlooks Perranporth town and beach and is nothing short of spectacular! Every hole is a test with lots of blind shots carrying dunes and hills. Can't wait to have another go at this one again!

Glorious views

Superbly presented, greens like glass. Lots of blind tee shots, over the hills. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, but tiring for an ?old bloke? playing two rounds in the day.

Amazing cliff top links course

Not for the faint hearted Perranporth overlooks the town and huge beach and cliffs but the course needs your attention, many blind shots rolling fairways and fast beautifully kept greens make this a serious challenge of skill and patience, played twice now and will be back for many more, fantastic day of golf and great 19th with views

It's a tough one!

Firstly I can't comment on the food or drinks as I was short on time.
As for the course I has numerous observations.
1) It's tough. If you don't like blind shots or hills then its best avoided. I lost count of the number of blind shots required from both Tee and fairway!
2) If you cant drive/hit straight then bring lots of balls or send a friend ahead to spot for all the blind shots.
3) If its windy double up on point 2. Stray shots are often difficult to find in the Heather/Brambles and long grass.
4) The greens were good. Undulating and tricky pace but receptive.
5) It has great views of the town, cliffs, sea and beach.
6) There is only one water hazard! But a few reveted bunkers to collect your ball.
Would I recommend it? Yes, but only if you are playing with a group or are of a fair standard... Not for a novice.

Cornwall's Hidden Gem?

I really enjoyed my round at Perranporth, the views are simply stunning.
You need to set your expectations with this, its a tight tricky layout with a fair few blind tee shots, its definitely a course that you would maybe play better the 2nd time round.

That said don't be put off, the fun quirky layout has possibly to best views around - Especially the 4th tee - and the general condition of the course is great.

I would recommend this course if visiting and looking for some courses to play. It may be in the shadows of St Enodoc and Trevose for example but its just as fun.

Crazy golf

We played this on a sunny day with some breeze. The whole course was firm and dry, the greens were fairly fast but did have bumps. The first is a straight downhill par 4, after which there are lots of blind or semi-blind shots. However you can hit a good tee shot straight over the marker post and struggle to find your ball (due to surprising bounces). There are greens with false fronts which can catch you out. There are also some long carrys over markers. As the course is difficult the pace of play was slow. There are spectacular views over the beach and sea. I have played twice and never want to play this course again.

Not many courses are going to divide opinion like this one. On the plus side, good warm up area, great views of dramatic scenery. Attractive modern clubhouse. Course has some simple short par 4’s but far more longer approaches to steeply plateaued greens. Likely to be very challenging for any golfer in any but the most benign conditions. Greens were fine, fairways struggling after a dry spring,
A lot of blind tee shots aimed over marker posts, a couple of which are going to leave you in trouble if you don’t carry it well over 220. Incredibly tough walk. Very exposed to any wind. Biggest problem on our visit is it’s far too random when the course is firm, if you haven’t played it before. Bit like playing on a skateboard park, luck is always in play on a proper links but running from one side of the fairway to the other, and then into trouble, is going to prove trying for most.
I’d still recommend playing it, but as a visitor really only when it’s green and receptive. Very hard course to rank, but I think on balance about right on here.
