Location: DIRECTIONS IF TRAVELLING WEST ON THE M62 - JUNCTION 24 If you are on the westbound carriageway you must leave the motorway at this junction. There is no westbound exit at Junction 23. Follow the slip road onto a dual carriageway and continue until you come to a roundabout. Leave this at the first exit (immediate left). Go all the way along this road until you reach another roundabout - you are now at junction 23. Go around this and leave at the next to the last exit signposted A640. This takes you over the M62 and into Outlane Village. Please drive carefully and observe the 30mph speed limit. As you leave the village you will see a Fish & Chip Shop and an Indian Take-Away on the left. Turn left immediately after these (you will also see a stone plaque in the opposite wall with the name of the Golf Club on it). Drive down this road and under the motorway bridge and the Golf Club is on the left. Please be careful on approach, the car park has a one way system with both entrance and exit on a narrow road. You are likely to meet exiting traffic head-on. DIRECTIONS IF TRAVELLING EAST ON THE M62 - JUNCTION 23 If you are on the eastbound carriageway leave the motorway at this junction and follow the slip road over the top of the motorway until you come to a roundabout. Go all the way around the roundabout and leave at the last exit signposted A640. This takes you back over the M62 and into Outlane Village. Please drive carefully and observe the 30mph speed limit. As you leave the village you will see a Fish & Chip Shop and an Indian Take-Away on the left. Turn left immediately after these (you will also see a stone plaque in the opposite wall with the name of the Golf Club on it). This is a difficult course as you very rarely find a level lie and on a lot of shots your playing blind. The set-up of the course on the back 9 is a bit confusing. Overall there are some really strong holes though, in particular 4, 8, 15 and 17. The course was in excellent condition, the were especially good. £64 for a 4-ball is very good value for a Sunday morning.

Tricky fairly short course with many holes on the side of a hill. Placement rather than distance key! Two holes over ravine/wood daunting but not as difficult as first impression. Greens usually good (may now be some winter greens so check). V good value at £15. Lovely people. Good food

Very nice course by the side of M62, we played with a member so were advised about lines and fairways etc, as the shared fairways can be confusing. The course was in excellent condition and very well manicured. members were very friendly and teh bar upstairs was good value too.

Great course, hilly but some fantastic holes. Its helps when playing with a member as there are a couple of shared fairways etc.
I would ignore the first persons review as it paints completely the wrong picture!

Arrived here and initially it looked ok. Clubhouse looked decent enough, nice big car park and pro shop looked good from the outside.
Unfortunately I cant report what the pro shop is like on the inside because the pro wasn't there! Went up to the bar as it says on the wall to try and get scorecards so we could get out and play and again, closed! Had to go knocking on the door of some secretary who gave us two pieces of paper with yardage on to use as score cards. Poor start then.
When we eventually got out the first hole was ok, straight down with no real test but ok. After that the second hole is a joy, not because of the layout but because it is easy to find in this rats maze of a golf course!
After the third hole you are constantly wondering where the next hole is.........wandering around trying to find holes while all the time dodging balls because of the sheer amount of fairways that either criss-cross or are simply shared by other holes! The 7th is a joke, where ever you drive the ball it ends up on the left because of the cliff face you are playing on! When I was taking my second shot, on the left of the fairway, I noticed two guys looking at me strangely, this was because they were waiting to tee off on the tenth, straight towards me! This happened another 3 times going up to the 9th where I called it a day and walked off the course in disgust at the layout and the ridiculous placement of the course, its like fell climbing not a game of golf.
Avoid at all costs. I wouldn't play again here if it was free, and that is no joke, I'm not bitter, I only paid 7 quid but it is shocking.

An excellent course for golfers with one leg longer than the other. Many of the holes are on the hillside.
2 great ravine holes (1 outwards and 1 inwards). Also a very tough par 3 towards a blind green. In fact many of the greens are blind from the tee which for a visitor can prove troublesome.
Lots of hills to walk during the round, but you are rewarded with some stunning views.
