Mount Ellen Golf Club
Gartcosh, Glasgow, Central Scotland, G69 8BD United Kingdom
The Mount Ellen course has been dramatically shaped by the last ice age and is laid out over two drumlins, namely elongated, large 'mounds' of material deposited under the ice sheet, which covered Scotland about 200,000 years ago.
This enabled the course architects to create a mixture of demanding shots and aesthetically pleasing holes. The drive from the third tee illustrates this perfectly.
The shot is from the north side of one Drumlin across to the south side of another making it a daunting prospect for the average golfer. The 16th is a great hole which doglegs around the Bothlyn Burn with out of bounds as an additional hazard. Fortune favours the brave but take too tight a line and the carry become to great.Book a Tee Time

I have played this course every year for about the past 10 years and sad to say i think the club, course and facilities are getting worse when perception is they are improving. Yes a new clubhouse but facilities not as good. Lockers and lockers area are minimum against the price and against a similar priced course such as Cathkin or Drumpellier.
The course was the worst condition i have seen this year including the greens, i think the focus has been lost on this great wee golf course and people need to get feet on the ground and back to basics this course will beat any course in the area if greenkeepers, members and committee members get back to basics and doing the simple things.
I have read many reviews and can see why people believe this is not value for money this course can easily win many members if priced properly!

The course should have been shut during heavy rain otherwise the course was ideal. Greens are now very bumpy and more care should have been taken during heavy rainy spell. The clubhouse has recently been updated and is looking good although the toilets are downstairs which was not a great idea. Only one bar and no dirty bar. For a new clubhouse a bit more thought required for not a lot more money.
