This the course i play the most so i know it well. Its a privately owned pay and play and that said it is very well kept. Great in winter as they always keep the same tees and greens and can play off the fairways not mats.
Some say its a bit of a sloggers course as the fairways are wide but for the average player this makes it more of an enjoyable game with your mates. That said the owners are investing heavily at the moment with new water on 4 of the holes which is already starting to come into play.
The greens are fairly flat though but are always in good order.
Spike bar is relaxed with good beer and snack type food at reasnoble prices but the main bar adjacent serves a fuller range if you fancy it.
Also has very good hotel on site.
Very good alround but prices are putting a few off at the weekends at nealry £30 a round.

Morley Hayes - yellow tees. Interesting in most conditions playable year round. Some holes are a worthy challenge e.g. 2nd, 4th, 8th, 9th (if you don't hit 250), 10th (after they've completed the lake), 11th (difficult into the prevailing wind and only reachable in two if you hit 250 off the tee), 17th (plays longer than it is for some strange reason) and 18th (needs a 200 carry over the lake). Bland though in comparison with Uttoxeter or Ormonde Fields or even Allestree. Beware the rough it's tougher than it looks. Sadly the course can be slow 4 hours plus at weekends. Overall a good course especially if you hit longer than this poor guy.

at the time i played morley it was winter and i could only manage the front 9 because of a terrible rain down pour but took refuge in the driving range so not all was lost

One of my favorite course. Well looked after course with a nice wide fairway. Creeks and bunkers make the course interesting. Not a big selections of golfing equipment at store, but people work there are very friendly

Great course, was in excellent condition in November despite some heavy rain. Having played this a few years ago I was concerned about parts of the course being water logged. They have definitely done some great work with drainage and the course was in excellent condition.

Nice course with some interesting holes and set in fantastic surroundings of the Derbyshire countryside.

Club, members was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit back especially at £17.50 for mid week rounds and you can use 2 for 1.

We only tend to play Morley in the winter so don't see it at it's best. It's a long course with some difficult holes. We usually played of the proper tees and greens albeit towards the front. Unable to use 2-4-1 vouchers at the weekend which makes 28 quid expensive, but the course was open most of the time.

Great course!!! Long but quite open and forgiving in places.
Its plays extremely well all year round. Excellent drainage!!!
Very relaxed atmosphere - pay and play club - £19.50 Monday to Friday and they accept 2Fore1 vouchers.
The low handicappers may find it too easy - but I really enjoy it there.

Play this course quite often as it is local.
At the end of Winter it looks a little tired as it usually stays on summer tees and greens all year around.
Can tend to get a bit boggy between holes if there is a lot of rain, could do with some gravel paths putting in.

Course itself is quite deceptive, looks very wide open but the rough can be a killer. You are better off playing percentage golf out of the rough, as it can punish you. There are a couple of holes that tend to stand out:-
The 2nd is SI 1 and with good reason, water and OB down the rightup to a corner approx 220yds from the tee, then the approach is treelined down the left with a raised green.
The 9th catches many people out, they tend to focus purely on the pin and don't play the fairway. You need to be on the left side of the fairway on this hole to give yourself the besr chance of hitting the green in 2, go down the right and there is a huge deep bunker guarding the front approach of the green to catch people out who drop short.

The 18th has a 200yd carry to clear the water, alternatively, you can lay up at about 170yds but you will really struggle to hit the green with your second. Another ditch cuts across the fairway at about 300ydsand can catch out the unwary.

Good course with very good facilities

I play here quite a lot (on the 18 hole Manor) and it's quite challenging. Plays very long for a high handicapper with a few cardiac challenging holes.
Never known it to be closed throughout the winter (except after snowfall) and only ever had one temporary green (the sunken 15th) and considering the use it gets is in amazing condition. Greens are mostly big and flat, a bit bumpy in winter, but very consistent throughout the year. No particularly outstanding holes, inconveniently placed water, especially on the 5th, 8th, 10th and 18th.
Pay as you play course with no membership means it can be busy at weekends and course etiquete is stretched sometimes.
Good driving range (auto-tees, grass area and bunker) and good beer and food in the spike bar. Restaurants are also very good.
Can be slightly off-putting when a large wedding party starts to take interest in shots to the 9th green, but I suppose it's the nearest thing to a gallery I'll ever get to play in front of.

This venue has two courses a nine hole course and a eighteen hole course both are excellent the 9 hole course can get boggy in winter due to the lack of drainage but the eighteen holer is an excellent challenging championship course which holds PGA events and is very rarely boggy excellent to play on anytime of year 9 hole course is £11 a round and the 18 hole course is around £25 which for a championship course i think is fairly cheap.

Love this course, last played on a sunny Saturday evening. Well worth the £15 round. Very tricky for a 22 handicap duffer like me (although my brother, ex 14 handicap, shot 88!), especially with the rough rolled away from the greens, but the course is really well maintained.

A well kept secret.

Lovely course, very well kept. Definitely one for the big hitters! Nice clubhouse and facilities. They also play summer greens and tees all year round, which is nice...
