This 18 hole championship golf course hosted PGA EuroPro Tour events from 2001 to 2003, and provides a great test for golfers of all abilities. Hollins Hall is a challenging course, the best defence being the huge undulating greens and well positioned bunkering. The signature hole 14th called 'viaduct' is a tricky par four providing a masterpiece in tactical design with the 19th century viaduct providing a fantastic backdrop. From an elevated tee, golfers must negotiate 4 fairway bunkers, a dog-leg and two water hazards before being tested on the two tier green. The greens and tees are built to USGA standards providing good drainage and quality surfaces - Hollins Hall guarantees no temporary surfaces and a buggy path around the course making it a fantastic choice all year round! 18 holes. Par 71. 6671 yards. Parkland.

My wife liked the fact that all the holes had a name!!!!!!!!! She really struggled on Infinity, Road hole and Black Rabbit, so much for the lovely names!!

Bring your crampons to get up to the first tee!!!

This course feels like it's on the side of a mountain and the when the wind blows will play like an inlands links. Don't miss the fairway as the first cut is very unforgiving and ball deep. Hit the heavy rough and you're unlikely to find it. Quite well laid out for a corporate venue and not too heavily weighted in favour of the big hitter. It didn't feel like a corporate venue and that was a positive for me.

Don't carry your clubs and if you aren't in reasonable health, take a buggy!

Excellent course tee to green all 18. Long, punishing narrow fairways, with lots of semi rough. Some excellent feature holes. A real test.

great course scenic but tough for high handicappers such as myself best tee off with irons as the rough just off the generally narrow fairway is really rough. Take plenty balls if not a vv accurate driver, nice true reading greens in excellant condition with pleasant back drops, trolley or buggey a must unless you like a good work out .good value if used with 241 or play twilight will defo be back soon even after having my worst ever round old man golf is the way forward really really need to hit fairway give it a go it's good enjoy

Tricky course, built in mountain goat country, so get a buggy if you can!! Tight fairways with many blind tee shots, and huge undulating and fast greens. Take your A-game to Hollins or expect to see some big numbers.

Course was very interesting
Steep climb to first tee that's before you start playing.
Drinks were quite expensive though.

The course is in absoulte perfect condition. Looks like an american course with the fairways landscaped. Not an easy course for a golfer of my standard. Went through a few balls but still enjoyed it. There are plent of elavations to take into account and the course as matured well to say it is only 7 years old. How ever £55 is a lot of money for 18 holes, we had 2 fore 1 vouchers so only paid £27.50. Bargain!!!! 10/10

Visually stunning in places with wonderful views over moorland. Interesting mixture of wide open and claustrophobic holes, with spectacular holes like the 9th (Thompsons Retreat) and 14th (The Viaduct) dug into the countryside set against some pretty non-descript such as the 16th (Railway) which is basically a slog against the prevailing wind. Not a long course but demands accuracy and distance control off the tee to hit the fairways with some well placed bunkers, although what water there was was pretty insignificant (some of the ponds could be easily doubled in size to add a bit more interest). The fairways were in good condition but the rough was a bit too harsh, with balls being lost after rolling into the first cut, anything in the deep stuff then forget it. Greens were fast and true on the first round but some were ruined for the second after being spiked.
Another eye-wateringly expensive bar and indifferent food in the evening, wasn't sure whether to eat the new potato or tee it up.

Well laid out course but tight if your new to the game, bunkers and water are in ideal positions to catch you if your not straight.
Need to think your way round, strokesavers are available but they don't show the rough and trust me IT IS, in most cases if you know it's gone play another ball. But if possible play it first.
Quite hilly in places so worthwhile using a trolley or even better a buggy, the 1st tee is some 80 metres higher than the car park and a steep walk so get to the tee in plenty of time to allow yourself to recover prior to your tee off.
Greens are quite fast and undulating, 3 putting will not be uncommon unless you get it close to the pins.
All in all a great course.

I played this (poorly!) a couple of weeks ago and despite the grim stats loved the course. The pictured green by the viaduct is tough to approach and has some ugly stuff behind it, so don't go as long as I did. We used a buggy, which appears to be pretty much the norm on this course, although you have to stay on the paths, which can make for some innovative club choices guessed from the other side of the fairway (or rough in my case).

A fantastic service offered by the staff at all times. The course itself offers some challenging holes particularly the signature 14th where big hitters can be tempted with a tiger line 300 yard tee shot over the trees. Even for gunning Tiger's you are not home and dry after a big drive, with quick greens and deceptive slopes three putting can lead to a players downfall. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable course that I will definitely play again.

The course has the potential to be realy nice but with it being on top of a hill the weather is never calm ive played this a few times and its been the same every time. The staff are generally ok with one lad whos great he takes you up to the first tee and bless him he brought me a bacon sandwich on the 7th. Unfortunatly that was the best of my day
