Marriott Dalmahoy Golf Club
East Course (Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club)
The championship East Course is a challenging inland masterpiece. Designed by James Braid in 1927, it underwent a £1 million redevelopment in 2004. A couple of cracking new holes have been added and as a result, the layout has been lengthened to 7,475 yards making it the longest golf course in Scotland. Host to the final of the Belhaven Best Scottish Club Handicap Championship in 2005, it is set to become one of Scotland's great inland tracks.
18 holes. Par 72. 7475 yards. Parkland.
West Course (Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club)
The ever popular West Course is shorter than its sister course and offers an easier round of golf. Greater accuracy is required at times however to conquer its smaller greens and tighter fairways. It features a spectacular finish crossing over the Gogar Burn.
18 holes. Par 68. 5158 yards. Parkland.

Played both the East and West courses between 19th and 21st September 2011. The layout of both courses cannot be faulted but at the time we played the East course was waterlogged and really should not have been played on. The 13th was virtually unplayable due to the water and thick mud and the green atrocious having also been hollow tined. If your going to visit check the weather. Maybe if we had visited earlier in the year as others have mentioned it would be better. The course charged £50 a day for the buggies but with a bit of haggling we managed to get them for £30. Overall the east course was a challenge and the West course good fun especially for some of the higher handicaps in our group.

I have played the east course now on a number of occassions and really enjoy it. I find that the 13, and 14 holes a little intimidating due to them being very narrow which are the only two holes on the course like that. The 17 par 3 is a challenge as is the 18th if you do a long drive there is a potential of getting into trouble off the tee. It is expensive the last round cost £51. The West course i have only played once and is easier than the east course and shorter but enjoyable there is only one par 5 which is the 13th with some out of bounds on the left.

Play the course about 3/4 times a month. Have a friend in work who is a member there and although i stay in glasgow, i always look forward to the drive through to Dalmahoy. I have played all big named courses like St Andrews, Gleneagles and Loch Lomond to name a few and without doubt Dalmahoy is in my top 5 favourite courses in Scotland. I love this course. The Big (east) course is longest in scotland from medal tees and every hole is challanging. The Wee (west) course is a great wee course and has its challanging holes. Fantastic hotel facillities alos, really friendly and would recommend to anyone.

Course was nice, but the green fees suggested it'd be better. If a dozen or so of the holes looked like 13 & 14, the price would be justified. Mowers & grass-blowers seemed to follow us around the first 4 holes which was extremely annoying and off-putting. Greens were often bumpy, some even under pools of water which is unexcusable.
Machine on the range was up the spout so couldn't pracrtice before round, and the less said about the pro shop staff the better.
Highlight of the round was being chased off the 12th & 16th tees by a fox.The Course

Played the East Course. Was lovely and quiet with some good holes and nice views. Lots of good bunkerage and although long, the fairways are generous. I rated the course Fair due to the condition of the fairways and greens - very poor, bumpy and not in good condition. Expected more for the price. Overall, great location, service and facilities, shame about the state of the course.

Played the course on a fresh sunny Scottish day, first time round the West course and it was great. Only one par 5 but numerous par 4's within a good drive and short pitch distance. Very good course, well laid out and a joy to play. Also took advantage of special tee time deals and at £20 for the round great value. Will be back again sometime this year.

The shorter West course provides an altogether different test of your game, tighter fairways and smaller greens call for greater accuracy

Typical 2 Course Marriott set up, the championship course is excellent, a very good test for anybody. I would recommend a 1 night break at the hotel playing the East and West Course making sure you opt for the chmpaionship course on Day 2. the shorter course is fun and a good way to get your long irons in flow.

Very friendly check in. Helpful with loan of clubs (Titleist 804!) but very pricey - £60 ppp round and £30 for the buggy even if it did have GPS! Very good chipping (3 'greens' for chipping up to 100 yds) and putting facilities but poor range - scrabbly balls and basic hard mats (about twelve or so). Respectful starters hut in front of the manor house leading off to a gentle uphill par 5. Disappointing then that nearly every hole from then was another straight hole with little hazards to beware of. Long holes, yes, but on the green for two then it's back the way you came for the same hole the other way, etc, etc - even the 10th hole is parallel to the 1st and same in par, length and gradient and the greens (given they were in good nick) offered little in challenges). It was only some of the last holes (14th + 18th) that gave the grey matter some work off the tee. The surrounding areas wern't what I thought Scotland was all about - yes, ok I know what you're thinking - but for the most part you could have been playing anywhere and for the cost, I won't be rushing back
