The Lakes
The wonderful par 72 Championship Course was opened in 1997 and plays to 6,572 yards from the championship tees. Set within 180 acres of Northumberland countryside the course design is based around an 'American Style' ethos, with plenty of water to catch anyone not hitting straight from the tee. The famous Longhirst wildlife inhabit the many lakes that frame the fairways, so you can share surroundings with plenty of ducks, geese and swans whilst you search for the birdies! If you're looking for a little piece of Florida on this side of the pond look no further than Longhirst Hall Golf Club. This is a hidden gem!

The Dawson
The Dawson Course offers a different challenge to the Championship Course at Longhirst. Measuring 6,713 yards from the white tees, it is actually longer but the holes have been modelled to create wider fairways and large greens to contrast with the more demanding Championship Course. Extended from the original 9 holes of the Blueberry Course, the Dawson Course is a great addition to this golfing complex.

Winter tees and winter temporary greens. -4c when we started out! White frost everywhere. Amazing bounces off the extremely hard fairways! I hit a perfect drive from the tee box on par 5 fourteenth, bounced in the centre of the fairway - AND TURNED SIDEWAYS - MORE THAN 90 DEGREES! It scuttered across the fairway into the lake on the right of the fairway, and because the lake was frozen over ended up right in the middle of the lake sitting on top of the ice. It was interesting to see several other balls scattered all over the frozen surface!

Must have been a lot of rain overnight - bits of standing water all over the course. Virtually no run on fairways. Played off regular tee boxes and putt on normal greens.

Very windy - got back to the club house just before the rain - water table and lakes are very full! Parts of the course quite wet. Played from normal tee boxes and normal greens in play.

Winter greens and tees for most of the round, but ground staff were reverting to normal greens as we approached 16th. Old Course is still in surprisingly excellent condition considering the numbers using it over the holiday period.

Fairways spiked but flat
Normal greens in great condition - some work going on - minimal ground under repair
The Old Course is 11 holes of The Dawson and 7 holes of The Lakes
