Laleham Golf Club
Laleham Golf Club was established in 1903 on the course constructed by the Earl of Lucan for the private use of his family and friends. Originally known as Chertsey Golf Club it changed to its present name in 1938. The 18 hole course stands on 100 acres of meadowland on the opposite side of the River Thames to Laleham Village. At over 6200 yards the par 70 course provides a fair but testing challenge to golfers of all standards. The flat terrain ensures that a round - or even two - can be enjoyed with reasonable ease. The course is well kept and, owing to the natural drainage of the underlying gravel, the surface remains dry when the weather takes a turn for the worst. This natural drainage was enhanced in earlier times by a system of ditches dug in the 7th century and throught the course, remenents of times past help add to the asthetic appeal.

Location
Location: We are on the opposite side of the main A320 to Thorpe Park. Turn off of the A320 at the Thorpe Park Roundabout into Mixnams Lane heading onto the Penton Park Site. Turn left at the small roundabout and follow the lane for about a mile.

fairways bare of grass if you miss a fairway your ball be pocketed my a member happened to me twice not a very friendly club or very welcoming

A real favourite of mine as I held the amateur course record of 65(-5) in 1994 (not sure if it still stands). A relatively flat course with very good greens with some interesting holes. Recently taken over by Grundon who are looking to improve the course, clubhouse etc...but not to the detriment of the existing members. Good value for money all round.

Liked the course, clearly well looked after and the greens were in good nick bearing in mind how dry it's been.
Worst things about the course was the staff: The guy in the pro shop treated us a bit of an inconvenience and his attitude wasn't exactly friendly. You also needed a security code to get to the bar which we weren't told about. Having managed to get in there, we were told about the no golf shoes rule and sent back the 5 minute walk to the car. Suffice to say we didn't return for a pint...
