What the club says: The Knotty Hill golf centre just outside Sedgefield offers a comprehensive range of challenges to test all levels of golfer, whether high or low handicapper. It has two fabulous, eighteen hole parkland courses, both of which are quite long - the Princes course is 6577 yards whilst the Bishops is 6365 - and demanding.

Distances much in need of revision but unlikely to happen whilst course are being re planned. On occasion yellow tees are BEHIND white which is a nonsense. On some par 4,s no way can any of our group get close to GIR even with two of our best shots. We play this course every week almost, but the sooner the improvements are completed and distances AND hole ratings updated the better.

Played here with some friends when we arrived some moody lady told us we can't play the Maine course because we are juniors. So we played the second hall is was is a field with some golf holes in it. The club house look like a jumble sale full of random things will not be going back. Worst course i have played

An abundant facility, the courses are very well maintained throughout the winter, practice areas are ideal but most of all the staff are great. No snobbery at this club.

Have to agree with mr race, arguably one of if not the nicest golf clubs ive visited! me and my father played there this weekend, despite being busy the staff always seemed to find the time to listen to even the most mundane of stories from customers. Course was busy but in great condition given the time of year it is, if the worst thing you can say about a club is that its busy then it says something in my book! good course and good clubhouse! PS the food was fantastic!

We play here most weeks, either Princes or Bishops. Both are kept in EXCELLENT condition at any time of the year, and when many courses are closed we can usually get a round using a defined mixture of the two courses. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and very approachable at all levels, including DENNIS,the owner .The green staff are very conscientious, and Ashley, the son, always ready to listen to my opinions critical or praising.I have NO IDEA what Paul,s problem is but he definitely has one.He wants more than two par 3,s ,has he tried PITCH and PUTT.Don,t worry about not returning Paul, sounds as though you won,t be missed.

We played here for the first time last week! Our course was closed because of heavy rain and we were surprised to find one open! Despite rain the course was in great condition, we played the course called A&B which I believe is the Princes Course! Can't believe we haven't been here till now! Great staff, even offered us a glass of ginger wine on our return, shame it wasn't alcoholic but that knocks a 100% review down to 99% ... Thank you to everyone on the day

Not quite sure what 'Paul' is referring to as this is perhaps one of the most friendliest clubs I have ever been to, and let me just say for certain that if anyone from the club tells you to speed up, it sure as hell means you're playing slow! Il defend this place to the hills so can't say il miss seeing you there! Keep up the great work everyone!

it gets a bit boring after a while and not much of a challenge and only two par 3 on our course which was disappointing. After about hole 13 the lady from the office arrived on her buggy asking us to play faster she said she had a phone call from some miserable sod about our slow play but not once was there anyone behind us waiting to play a shot.Obviously four balls (our party)are going to be slightly slower than people playing on their own or the people using the electric buggys. On the knotty hill website it says the are a "friendly club and offer a warm welcome to all" it also says practice and play in relaxed surroundings which is a damn lie.We were so incensed after this rude woman approached us that our game fell to bits and it put a sour taste in our mouths .We certainly won't return to this course and i certainly wouldn't recommend it to any of our friends.

Played A&B at the weekend, great condition, course was busy but thoroughly enjoyed the round! Shame there wasn't a bar but was told that I could bring my own in future and that wouldn't be a problem! Brilliant, very friendly crowd!
