What the club says: "A course that any true golf-lover will want to go back to"- according to a leading golf magazine in 2017.
Located in the popular Derby golf triangle, Horsley Lodge has 18 well defined holes, most featuring water and is set in 180 acres of wonderful undulating countryside. Horsley is also a really interesting layout, with a lot of thought required before you reach the massive "USGA standard" undulating greens, all 18 of which require even more thinking about.
Designed by former World Champion and Walker Cup captain, Peter McEvoy (also responsible for Fota Island) and built by the team which constructed Loch Lomond and Valderrama, it's currently the most rated and highest ranked course in Derbyshire and East Midlands on this, and other sites.
Horsley Lodge has a driving range, shop, practice area and boasts an exceptional clubhouse with 14 unique bedrooms in a highly rated hotel, as well as a club room and golf bar and restaurant on site. Handy for the golfer is a "Halfway cafe" serving up hot and cold food, drinks and snacks.
Open to all, this proprietory club owned by the same family for 27 years, now truly shows a maturity that belies its age. Green fees from just £17 twilight to £27 peak. Play and stay packages available. If you've not been lately, a warm welcome and a great day awaits.

A fantastic golfing challenge, one not to be missed...
Difficult to find a time when its not reserved for members, but finally came up with the Sunday afternoon idea. 2 of us come up from Leicester and for £17 had the best time on a "local" course for many a year Thanks to the Pro for telling us about this great rate and even the wives came along for afternoon tea and fizzy wine!
Me 90 my mate 89 so I had to write this review!
This is a great course, the greens are interesting and quick and the course is always in great condition. Visitors should keep an eye on the twilight rates which are very reasonable for a course of this standard. Well worth a visit
best course in Derbyshire. great staff in pro shop. would go again at the drop of a hat.

Quality course and quality club which is well worth a visit.. my best round to date at Horsley which always helps :-)
Greens are quite superb now, (we thought they're a bit off earlier in April) I play my best golf on this course, and even a bad shot makes you feel its the course against you, not just your opponent!
Horsley will penalise a bad shot but the greens will reward you as they are true and really fast!!

PS @ £17 u can't go wrong
Played here on 16/6/2017 , what a fantastic course ! We tee'd off at 3.10 pm on the twilight rate as a fourball with two buggies only £25 each ! Amazing value for a course this good . The greens were fantastic and very fast ! Had one of the best rounds I've ever played so overall had a great time ! Back again soon hopefully !

By far the best course ive played locally. Very hard greens though but run true.
(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 97 Handicap: 23.8)
Played just before their "open" in a society. Boy did they pull out the stops! I saw at least 6 different mowers in action but they didn't get in the way, pristine cut greens and fairways, quite outstanding definition, shape and some thinking to be done for each shot. Trees came into play a lot for me but all my own fault. We come back in September for another go. Can't wait
Hp 23, score 98
Had society at horsley... bang on course.. just a pity they could spend some money on the course drainage... rained today on the back nine.. and puddles mini lakes everywhere... been like this for years... come on sort it out and this could be best course in East Midlands.
(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 102 Handicap: 22.7)
Very nice course. The greens were very hard as in the feel. Could aim for the green as it would bounce of or roll. Best to play up to green.

Always a pleasure to play here. Shop is small but has some great brands and the Pro is the kind of guy you can haggle (if hes in a good mood) but working there who wouldn't be!!
(Round played: May 2017 - Score: 101 Handicap: 24.2)
Very tough in the wind, greens good practice for Portugal undulations even if the grass is different
(Round played: Apr 2017 - Score: 90 Handicap: 15.1)
(Round played: Apr 2017 - Score: 78 Handicap: 12.7)
Top class course, very enjoyable. Most of the course was in good shape but the greens were not great. Probably due to the time of year but lots of bobbles and not running true. Didn't spoil enjoying a good round
(Round played: Apr 2017 - Score: 83 Handicap: 11.5)
Greens are good and I look forward to coming back
