For a guest a bit difficult to navigate around the course as no clear indicators to next tee. Tee boxes also not labelled with hole number so a few times worries we were heading the wrong way - having said that got around fine.
After reading some mixed reviews, all of my group were really pleased to find teh course in really good shape and very well looked after especially with current damp cold spell - well worth a round

Situated in the South Downs on the northern edge of Brighton, this course has excellent natural drainage and is thus very playable all year, even during the wettest winter months. There are many good, entertaining holes, some playing steeply up- and downhill. Very few flat lies anywhere, and the wind is always a key ingredient in the pudding. Really fine views over Brighton and The Channel from many holes. Touchingly inexpensive, especially when booked via the internet.

A good course but not always in the best condition and the greens do suffer from wear and vandalism on occasion. That said, it is playable all year round and is good value for money. The facilities have recently improved (2011) and the new management are improving the course and facilities.

It is a course that is very open in places, but when you play on a windy day (like I did today) any mishit shots can go a long way from the target. It is also very hilly, so expect tough walking unless you're a mountain goat.
The greens were generally quick and true, and the fairways were pretty reasonable too. The bunkers could do with a bit of work on them though, and the practise green certainly wasn't the best.
The bar and shop is a little basic, and it was disappointing that a clubhouse in such a prime spot should have so few windows to take advantage of its position. The staff were all very friendly though, and it looked like a club where people seem to get on with each other.
Overall I liked the course and intend going back again soon. The Course

Good course in wet weather. Linksy feel to it. Very fast greens. When its windy its very windy. Fairly open but still take some spare balls. Lots of OOB.

found the course good and the greens well kept. Although the back 9 seamed to be a bit scruffy with rubbinsh over flowing in bins and on the floor. Downside too many public people walking around the course with kids and dogs.

Great public course. Lots of ups and downs, and tricky cross-angled fairways means that course knowledge is important. However, a lot of fairways run together, so let it rip off the tee, coz you'll probably still be playing off a fairway even if you bend it like Beckham. Love the 1st, 3rd & 17th. Real value for money course, just watch out for some of the punters with no golf etiquette.
