What the club says: Fairways and greens on this undulating course encourage golfers to employ their course management skills. The course provides a challenge to match the demands of open competition, company days, golf societies or group organisers. Despite a healthy membership, visitors and societies are welcome. Buggies, trollies and clubs available to hire and a friendly clubhouse at "The 19th Hole", serving a good range of food and drink, awaits golfers at the end of their round. This is open until 8pm every day between April and October.

The 3rd hole is our most challenging one, a dog-leg left fairway following a dry valley bounded by water hazards left and right. With plenty of space on the course, the fairways are generally wide and the rough mostly forgiving. Being on a hill (the clue's in the name) the wind often comes into play, providing that extra challenge on some days.

Best views in Oxfordshire

The course is in the best condition it's been in for several years. Greens, fairways and rough are all good. Work is being done to recover some of the bunkers. These are not the most inviting feature of the course but they are probably about as good as can be expected, given their heritage and the colossal potential cost of making substantial improvement to them The course's very good conditions are partly a result of a cool damp summer, but they are also down to the tireless effort of the grounds staff. It's a challenging course but it's also a haven for wildlife and, as ever, has amazing views over the dreaming spires of Oxford and its surrounding countryside. It has also retained its friendly, unstuffy atmosphere. In summary, a great place to enjoy the outdoors and a good round of golf!

An Oxford Gem

This is a beautiful inland links style golf course. It is in the most fabulous condition and was a joy to play
I cannot praise the groundskeepers highly enough. The fairways and greens are excellent. The course provides panoramic views of Oxfords spires.

Great course, great views

Firstly, superb views over Oxford!
A great welcome in the shop the young lad even came outside to show me around.
A superbly laid out course & in much better condition from a few years ago. It's got a links type feel in places. but is a parkland course.
The greens are very fast & some of the undulations are crazy, to be honest at times they were almost unputtable. A little inconsistency in them as well, some hard as a drum, others a bit softer & spongy.
Bunkers need a bit of work.
There is a great combination of holes to have a go at & other holes where you need a bit more strategy.
All in all a great round for £25 & well done HH a massive improvement over some of my last experiences.

Greens in good condition and a test bring small targets with slopes. Fairways and bunkers could be in better condition but some very nice holes and welcoming.

Great course, great views, friendly people

The course is probably in the best condition it has been for years, especially given the time of year and the climatic conditions. Greens are well-kept, fairways have largely recovered from the drought last summer and the greenkeepers have worked hard to tidy up the appearance of the course. It remains a challenging course with superb views over the dreaming spires and Oxfordshire countryside and is a friendly place to play golf.

Lovely hilly course. Has some beautiful holes and undulating greens .one green is like at upturned saucer very tricky. A buggy helps if you find walking hard. Lovely views over Oxford. The food is very nice . The only problem we found was finding the next hole they need markers. Family run

Great course, great views, friendly people

Lots of hard work by the longsuffering greenkeepers means this course is in good condition despite the ravages of the climate this summer. The greens are beautifully green(!) and smooth, the fairways parched but very playable and some of the bunkers are good, others less so. Stunning views over the city of Oxford and surrounding areas remain one of the more attractive features of this venue. It is a distinctly unstuffy course - members are friendly, visitors are welcome. Well worth a trip if you're looking to try somewhere different.
