Hinksey Heights Golf Club
South Hinksey, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX1 5AB United Kingdom
Fairways and greens encourage golfers to employ their 'Course Management' skills. The course provides a challenge to match the demands of open competition, company days, golf societies or group organisers. For larger numbers of players the organisers can vary difficulty by means of choice of tees, and pin placing.
David Heads, who designed, built and still maintains the course, is proud of the fact that the really excellent greens are in play 52 weeks of the year.
The 3rd hole is undoubtedly the feature hole and we recommend a look at the Panoramic views of the course. Book a Tee Time

Difficult to rate this course given that it rained in biblical proportions, was cold and being on top of a hill, was also blowing a hoolie! But will say course is nicely laid out and has plenty of character almost (as described) an inland lynx style course (minus the heather). One critisism one be the greens however, nicely sculpted but so very very slow (I know, it was raining but not for the whole round and even dry these greens would have been very slow), my back lawn has better grass on it and I'm not particularly proud of my back lawn. There was however enough to make me want to go back (on a dry day) and play again.

Lovely course with great views of Oxford, and on the day I played, of the thunderclouds coming my way! The fairways are generally fairly open, although the greens are frequently tricky. There are a few climbs up to the top of the course, so perhaps not for everyone, and it can be a little exposed if it gets windy.
The memorable hole is the 3rd, which is a long downhill par 4 with ponds and sloping lies awaiting your tee shot. Very pretty hole.

One thing that this course has is space, and this makes for a nice spread of holes, open fairways but punishing rough and trees if you do go astray. Due to it's elevated position the course has great views of Oxford but also makes wind a factor. The front 9 is testing (particularly the 3rd), if a little standard but the back 9 has some great holes, with some links style holes, long par 5's and elevated greens making it an enjoyable challenge. All in all, great value for money a test for high hanicappers, but not punishing enough to ruin your round, and some testing holes for the low handicappers.

The staff and facilities were excellent and great company from other golfers during the round.

Good course for begineers not very challenging and good for practice. Has good tee areas and fairways but greens could be improved upon. But all in all a very good practice course and if you are looking for a good value for money quick round this is the course.

A good challenge for golfers of all abilities, wide fairways, with thick rough and nice greens. When the wind picks up it gets a whole lot trickier. The pro shop and 19th hole are small but functional. This is my home course and fun and not too expensive to play.

good to play in the summer.
Bad drainage lets this course down in the winter.
A good test for in windy conditions

Overall the experience was good but the fairways could have been cut shorter. Good practice facilities.

Ok but nothing to fancy. An inland links type of course due to the wind factor.

This course has intersting views over Oxford. The main plus is it remains open whatever the weather. Greens are small but very difficult. It's a better place to play in good weather as when the wind blows it can spoil things. A lot of long walks between holes. This is a course I would recommend if you were using 2fore1 vouchers as otherwise it does not provide value for money.

a very open course that is quite forgiving for off shots. Quite confusing however as there are not enough signs to show you the way round to the next tee off area and the tee's are not clearly marked. They have packed a lot into the area with a choice of 3 courses for all different levels. the 9 hole spires course is very good for a quick practice round.

Views over Oxford on clear day are great from the course. Some of the holes weren't overly exciting with few hazards. Some good ones though. Enjoyed the 9th and 18th most as both feature well positioned water hazards to make holes quite challenging. Course was in fairly good condition but did suffer a bit with the heavy rain in certain parts. Worth giving it a go though!

Nice course, but vistors may find difficulty navigating from some greens to next tee due to the lack of 'next tee' signs. Greens challenging.
