OK for price

I played after 2pm with a cheap rate about £12. Tee boxes OK. Fairways very good. Bunkers quite poor with small stones in them. Greens pretty poor, moss bare patches. Friendly staff.

Course looks in very good condition. Greens were superb today . The rough is very long and will cost you shots if you go in it. The only grumble as usual the bunkers. They are full of stones !! Take them out !

Probably the worst course I have played on, dry fairways are forgivable in summer, but the greens were almost unplayable especially the 1st nine. Bunkers poor, no second cut just long grass. Badly neglected course.

Good wet weather course

Heydon Grange has very good drainage and is open for play when most courses are closed. My friend and I played here in January 2020 when our original choice of course was carry only. Heydon Grange is a fairly flat course with views over the Cambridgeshire countryside. It is not the prettiest of course, with a limited number of trees.
Despite the rain of recent days the course was in reasonable nick and we had an enjoyable round. The greens were probably the best aspect of the course though the bunkers could have been better.
We tend to play here when other course are struggling with the mud and rain and we certainly felt we made the right decision to play here this time. For ?15 it was good value.

This is a great winter course
the best drainage I have ever seen and I
have played a few. the course is seldom packed in front of you or behind because it is three full size 9 hole courses.
staff are freindly and helpful, and the breakfast is good as well

three loops of nine holes. the cambs. essex and herts. the cambridge is by far the best course. the other two are good but they need to put some sand in the bunkers, urgently !!!! they are like concrete !!!!!!!! the fairways are also quite bare in places, especially on the essex course. twilight at £12.50 after 4pm is an absolute bargin !

Golfshake Team ReviewI played this course on the £14.50 twilight rate - Very good value for money. Went through the Essex and Cambs courses.

Fairways were in good nick.......as were the (tricky) greens.

A nice mix of long and short holes........with bunkers in the right (wrong, whichever way you look at it) places. Nice mix of water around too!

Staff were very friendly and helpful....Driving range is what you would need before a round.

Overall very plesent.....I will be returning and I would recomend!

Wielder

First round was challenging, we actually got lost on the course. Teed off on 5th, putted out on the 7th. A lot of blind holes so a course guide is a good buy.

Much Improved

The course has improved drastically and considering the recent inclement weather it was very good to play on, only the odd damp patch on a couple of greens. Some bunkers could do with more sand and less balast

Good course

Played this course a few times now and i have to say I really enjoy it. Recently had some work done to it, Greens are clean. Some bunkers can be a bit grainy. Really good course in winter periods as it does not hold water so there is no flooding or puddles.

Played as a 2 ball today, course was in excellent condition, the greens have improved noticeably, good conditions to all areas. Played in testing windy weather, would recommend others to visit. Should be better in the summer this year when the newly installed watering to all tees and greens takes effect.

Very good wet weather course

My friend like to continue playing over the winter period. When it is wet, there are very few courses that cope with weather and none are better then Heydon Grange. Because it sits on chalk, the drainage is very good and it is rarely affected by rain - only in exceptional circumstances. We have played over the last three weeks and, as usual, the course coped well with the wet conditions. The fairways were in good condition and the greens were good and true. The bunkers, however, were less impressive and were in serious need of TLC. We will continue to play here whenever the weather is less than ideal.
