Shocking State
I can't believe what a state HCGC has become. I played it probably 5+ years ago and it was enjoyable but it has since fallen into disrepair. Mats on every tee, horrendous muddy conditions on all holes has greens that are covered in pitch marks. What a disgrace and the owners should be ashamed of the way this once premier course has been allowed to deteriorate obviously through lack of investment. How this place has any members I don't know because to pay close to £2000 to play this place must mean they have more money than sense.Reviewer Rating

Not in the top 10 for Kent
Golfshake need to update their review. The place is a disgrace for the price you pay. Tees out of shape and bare, I recall work done on a few tees a few years back, didn’t last long. Bunkers washed away, no drainage, balls pluging on fairways. Members are entitled claiming to have tee times when they don’t.
Greens look good but run very heavy. I played here 4 years ago and recall how the fairways were in decline , but the rate it is happening should worry the owners.
To be fair the kings course is very boring, no stand out holes, the queens is the saving grace for layout.
Poor course with decent facilities , the staff are okay. The pro shop people are not the fastest to assist. A discount should be given when the course is in the state it’s in.
All in all for the money - I would not return. Possibly only decent to play for a few months a year.
NO WAY NEAR TO A TOP 10 GOLF COURSE IN KENT.

Uncut fairways!
Fairways were not cut so from a decent drive on the fairway the ball was buried!(Round played: May 2021 - Score: 112 Handicap: 14.5)

Badly burnt
Sadly Hever has suffered this summer and it's fairways have effectively disappeared. Although the ball runs forever, there?s no grass where it stops so nigh on impossible to get any spin on approach shots. Princes looked in slightly better condition.Reviewer Rating

Played 18 holes on Princes
Princes is the third of three nines, with Kings and Queens (two other nine holes each) comprising the "Championship" Course. I play Hever once or twice a year, (and used to play much more in the late 90s) and I think Kings and Queens are great courses. They were closed for maintenance so we played 18 holes onj Princes which I haven't played for 20 years. It was in very poor condition with scruffy (bare) tee boxes, just mats on the second hole. Some bunkers were GUR but more neglected than being worked on. There are a couple of feature holes which are interesting and I thought the greens were in good condition, although pretty slow. I wouldn't play Hever again if Princes were included ; it is a good place to practice but not worth paying for.Reviewer Rating

poor for the cost paid
Not in great condition, fairways poor, 75% were uncut.Greens were only reasonable which when you consider this round of golf cost £50.00 was not good.
local pay and play courses have better greens with only half the costs

Hacker
Always loved the layout of this course with 10 thru 12 (Amen corner) up there with the best. Great halfway house and clubhouse setting. Friendly staff. Played last week. Greens good, bunkers and tees good. However the grass needs cutting. Maybe they are protecting the clay base from the rain or footfall but it is simply too long and adversely affected the experience.Reviewer Rating

Not the best
Hever has one of the best layouts in the area, but are obviously not investing in the golf COURSE. Even in May the tee boxes are looking worn and the green surrounds are very patchy. If they want this course to live up its hype work needs to be done.Reviewer Rating

Swamp like conditions
Our society played the Boleyn Course (Princes nine and the front nine holes of the Championship Course) and can only describe the course condition as unplayable, nearly every fairway shot was completely plugged, the tee boxes were terrible, just a horrible experience. The championship course was much better so not sure they can blame the weather? Would only play this course in the summer months. They should have warned our society about the poor conditions before taking our money or at least give the option of changing courses.Reviewer Rating
