Second time I've played here in last 12 months. Fantastic condition especially given the wet weather over the past few months. The greens are sublime. Well done Hassocks GC.

Course was a bit boggy after a lot of rain, but was in good condition considering the amount of water that had fallen.
Lakes come into play on several holes adding interest.
Pro shop and course marshal were very friendly.
Enjoyed our day and will certainly return.

A challenging weald course, to be played in the summer the heavy clay soil makes it hard going in the winter. Club captain Nick Griffin made us very welcome and we will be returning in the sprig.

Good value when using the greensaver card, A testing layout, especially the 11th. Be warned. Water comes into play on several holes.

A deceptively tricky course that very few score low on. Distance is not a factor but accuracy is at an absolute premium. The amount of trouble you can find in a round is worrying and is certainly 1 to frustate the long hitters. If you haven't got a steady nerve when putting or you can't read the severely undulating greens then don't bother turning up! Out of all the holes hitting a driver is only an option on 7 at most unless you a) carry the ball at least 230yards or b) can hit a 10-15 yard wide landing area in the unrelenting wind.
The claim that it is a majority pay + play course is utter rubbish as probably 70% of the rounds each day are taken by members.
I wouldn't even bother visiting on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon during good weather as you'll struggle to get a tee time and you'll forever be watching the group ahead searching the Bermuda Triangle-esque rough for a marginally wayward tee shot.
The par 5 11th is 1 for the brave off've the whites. With a 185 yard carry over the 1st lake to a fairway that turns 90degrees to the right and only allows about 30yards of run off before you're OOB. You could cut the corner over the trees giving you far more run out but then you bring the burn that joins the 1st and 2nd lakes together into play plus you're looking at a 230ish yard carry to the fairway. Slice/push this shot more than 15 yards and you'll find the trees/OOB down the right side. A true card wrecker that brought my most satisfying eagle ever at a smidge under 500yards. If that isn't bad enough the green is like a an upturned saucer, protected by bunkers either side, a narrow entrance and OOB barely 10 yards from the back edge.
I dare you to visit the course and play to your handicap!

A mainly pay and play course that suits beginers and those learning the game. Cannot recommend to anyone who is travelling a long way, or is looking for a more challenging round. It is good value for money, you can get round it quite quickly and it is good for what it is.

A very pleasant little course, with a good variety of interesting holes.
The greens are in great condition, roll well and are not full of pitch marks.
The bunkers could do with a little attention to improve the quality of the sand in them and remove the stones, this would be my only real criticism.
Excellent value for money and a pleasure to play.

Hassocks is a course to play when you need to feel good about your game or want a round with few challenges. It is short, flat and in many places wide. It will be one of the least demanding courses you play; with 1 or 2 notable exceptions. These exceptions are limited to single shots rather than complete holes however.
I have played here many times because of its proximity to Brighton and have enjoyed almost all of them.
In the winter it suffers very badly with any wet weather, but they do appear to be taking measures to overcome this.
The club pro and assistant are as welcoming and friendly as any course I have ever visited. The Pro shop itself is in my opinion the best in the south east in terms of contemporary golf stock.
With limited time and finite resourses Hassocks is always a good track.

My local course but for some reasons don't play it very often. Rather flat and straight forward but some interesting holes. Can't remember the price but seem to remember it being reasonable.
