What the club says: In 1909, a group of local residents met at a house in The Avenue, Hatch End, Pinner, Middlesex. The meeting, chaired by William Moore, resolved to form a golf club for the benefit of local residents. It was felt the land they could acquire was well suited for golf because of its rolling nature and quality of turf which had lain undisturbed for generations. The club took its name from the English Heritage site, the Grim’s Dyke, of Anglo Saxon origin.

The grand opening of the new 9 hole course took place on 18th June 1910 by Sir William S Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame. Sir William’s country house and estate occupied land adjacent to the new course (now Grim’s Dyke hotel) and he became our first President.

In February 1921, plans were drawn up for extending the course to 18 holes, designed by 5 times Open Champion, James Braid, one of the era’s greatest and most prolific designers.

The present club house was built in 1936, and opened by the Marchioness of Carisbrooke. The club house has retains the attractive features of a 1930’s building.

In 1958, two former Captains, Dr. Mungo Park and his Brother, Dr Jack Park, presented the clubs used by their grandfather, Willie Park, 4 times Open Champion between 1860 and 1875. Replicas of these clubs are displayed in the clubhouse. Willie’s brother, Mungo Park, won the Open Championship in 1874 and his medal from that occasion was also presented to the club.

A James Braid designed course located on the Middlesex Hertfordshire border with stunning views and greens that have to be experienced, we are proud of our long and rich history, and look forward to continuing to offer challenging golf to members and visitors alike.

Short course but enjoyed it. Confused by the 14th as distance shows as nearly 400 yards on the tee & my watch but now a par 3 with a very different standard green. Trees marked with X dotted around have falling biting caterpillars - just in case you were wondering. Kitchen shut was disappointing.

Good Course

Course in great shape, the greens are very difficult to read and be aware of the short putt. Club house friendly and the breakfast was good value for money.

Pleasant course. Short and tight. Very wet conditions when we played but played quote well nevertheless. Bunkers were suffering because of the rain.

A really well maintained and challenging course
Only one downside it was extremely busy although this was managed very well with a lot of flexibility from those playing the course.

Fabulous course!

A well kept private members club with reasonable green fee of £30 for visitors. The greens were in excellent condition and undulating making putting extremely challenging. The course was very well maintained with excellent facilities

Fair course

Played here September '19 .

I played here once many years ago & thought i'd give it another go & it was a bit better than i remembered. It's short in length but due to it's undulating nature is not a particularly easy walk round. The layout feels a bit up & down in places where at the end of the round goes up & back twice & also walk across the car park to get to the 17th .

It does have some interesting holes & the holes overall have been nicely designed for the terrain with good bunker positioning which are mainly around or near the green. There are also good views from the course high points.
Favourite holes on the visit were 5 , 13 & 18 .

Greens & surrounds + tees were well maintained with the greens being lovely to putt on .Fairways were suffering with the last 2 hot & dry summers we've had like a lot of other courses currently. The course also seems to drain well .

Club was welcoming & the course was really quiet on a weekday afternoon which made for a nice round .

Green fees are overpriced for what you get but if like me you can get a deal online it's worth playing .
