Glasgow Gailes Golf Club
Gailes Links is hosting the 2010 Scottish Open Amateur Stroke play Championship and the 2012 Home Internationals.
Glasgow Gailes Links is owned and managed by Glasgow Golf Club, the 9th oldest golf Club in the world. Visitors are welcome to share the golfing traditions and excellent facilities enjoyed by the members.
This resides on a marvellous stretch of links land between Troon and Irvine on the Ayrshire coast. Gailes lies in the heart of Scotland’s Ayrshire Golf coast with several celebrated courses within easy driving distance: Royal Troon – 5 miles, Old Prestwick – 8 miles and Turnberry – 35 miles. Also nearby, the Loch Lomond Golf Club has recently opened their Dundonald Links course.Contact Information

Location: From the M77/A77 Take the M77/A77 towards Ayr coming off at Kilmarnock for the A71 towards Irvine Follow the signposts to Irvine for 8 miles At the third roundabout (the Warrix Interchange), take the first exit signposted Troon/Ayr on the A78 After half a mile take the first exit for the Newhouse Interchange At the Newhouse Interchange take the 3rd exit, and go straight on at the next roundabout (almost immediate) signposted Harbourside and Golf Courses After 250 yards turn right for the Golf Club (signposted)

Played late afternoon in April. Course deserted and weather beautiful - should have been top notch golf really, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience. Maybe because I was expecting dunes, sea/beautiful views and wilderness and the course is the opposite of that. Pretty flat for a links, couldn't see the sea and not that many truly memorable holes. Still it was well maintained and we were nicely welcomed, but you kind of expect that for £80 a round. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time - or maybe it was because my golf stank...I'd give it another go because some courses grow on you.
