Gigha Golf Club
Gigha Island, Isle of Gigha, Strathclyde, PA41 7AA United Kingdom
Golf was introduced on Gigha in the late 1800s and continued to be played at the Leim course until around 1925. There followed a 60 year gap until 1986, when keen local golfers Alastair "Plumber" Brown and gamekeeper John Wright designed and built a nine hole course at Tarbert Farm.
In 1988, estate plans were laid to form a golf course at Drumeonbeg Farm and Alastair and John were again responsible for the lay out and creation of the new course.
The first ball was driven off only two months after work started and Alastair continued as greenkeeper until Jim Alexander undertook the role in 2000. After Jim, Neil Bannatyne and Bill Legge have looked after the course and kept it in a lovely condition. No rating :
