Our group of six stayed in the Dormy rooms above the clubhouse during mid June this year. We had some misgivings before arriving, having heard stories of stuffy members and very strict rules etc. They could not have been further from the truth, no you don't need long socks, no you don't need jacket and tie in the lounge etc. We were treated like long serving members, given every courtesy and made to feel more welcome than many lesser clubs have in the past. Indeed on our arrival night there was a members BBQ and function to which we were all invited and made very welcome.The breakfast was superb and we were even given a wraped bacon buuty each on the morning of our departure.
The course is one thing that did meet with the reputation it has, in excellent condition, challenging yet fair with wonderful, ironed greens on which putting was a delight.
We have toured as a group for 22 years throughout the UK and this will always remain as one of our favourite visits, hopefully we will make it back again one day.
So my advice to any golfer thinking about playing this magnificent course, go ahead and do it and I'm sure you will be made as welcome as we were.
