What the club says: Forest Hills is a naturally undulating parkland course set in the beautiful Forest Of Dean and is currently regarded as being one of the finest courses in the area, with such excellent drainage, tees and greens that it is playable all year round. Challenging enough for County Events and friendly enough for visitors and societies to enjoy a day's golf.

We have played this course for a long time and it has always been in good condition but today it was as if we had not had any rain in recent weeks. It was very neat and tidy, no leaves, fairways cut and first cut too, the only rough areas were where you had hit offline. The pro is extremely friendly and helpful. Course has been enhanced over the years and is fantastic to play. Good value.

Certainly a Course you have to play

Lovely Course, although a bit of a find, once found then its an excellent course. Bit up and down so if any walking problems then deffo a buggy required. Some lovely holes and would certainly recommend it to give it a try.

Definitely a go to course in the wet weather as it drains extremely well and also at any other time of the year. Great variety of holes with many challenges and variety. Bunkers in great shape with no water, fairways and greens excellent. Lots of work being carried out to improve tee boxes and clubhouse/pro shop. Staff really friendly and a cooked breakfast after our round were much appreciated.

Lovely course and friendly members

I played here with the Forest of Dean golf club in our away game with our neighbours.

The course was in superb condition, the layout is very interesting. I needed to do some research on the google maps /Shotscope before playing as I had only played it once before many years ago. This is quite a tactical golf course, the driver shouldn't be used on every hole (if you're wild like me), there are a few dog legs which require precision and distance if you're using the big stick so I used hybrids and 4 irons to keep myself in play and let the driver rip on appropriate holes. There is a variety of ponds, trees, bunkers and long grass to catch you out.

The greens were very fast and challenging with mild to moderate undulations..

The food we had was very nice.

Haven't played this course since Dec 20 and there have been lots of changes to the club structure, which are really good. Course paths are also being improved, a work in progress. Price have increased as well but just about acceptable. Course is a really good challenge with lots of different types of holes. Fairways and greens excellent, even the rough was cut to a sensible length. Staff very friendly. A must play.

Fantastic course

Fabulous course in fantastic condition. The fairways well groomed and greens fast even though it was raining all day, if it had been dry they would have been rapid. It looks like they up grading the course & facilities which will improve an already fantastic place

Always worth playing!

Hadn't played the course for 4 months and after a lot of rain this week, it was still in excellent condition as always. All holes are a challenge and varied in style. Greens a little slow but expected after the rain. No heavy rough, fairways excellent. The pro is very friendly and helpful and we had a great experience in the clubhouse, where the staff were great, even had some banter with the chef. Will always play this course, any time of the year.
