The Golf Course was reinstated in 1995 by a small band of willing volunteers after many years of neglect and land changes. Originally known as the Barmouth and District Golf Club and then the Meirionnydd Golf Club, research has shown that the club was formed prior to the 1890's with a part of Penrhyn Farm House which was close to the Harbour being rented out for people to meet and store their clubs.
