De Vere Dunston Hall Golf Club
The fabulous par 71 and 6,275 yard course has been carefully designed and Cleverly contoured around the wooded parkland estate that surrounds the hotel. The course offers a varied and challenging game to golfers of all standards. The natural hazards of the terrain and the strategically placed bunkers add a certain spice to the picturesque landscape. The Par 4 16th Tee has been carved into the wooded surrounds inviting you to view the impressive course from its highest peak. A good long and straight drive will be rewarded with a medium to long iron into the slightly elevated island green. An errant drive into the trees, that line, divine and add character to this hole, will mean a careful lay up to the daunting lakes edge needs to be a well Judged shot. A precise pitch is needed if par is to be attained on this deceptively fast and slopping green.

Really disappointed with the state of the course and also its layout. Not many holes were that tough considering it was described a USPGA designed course. Although not the best of days, very windy and overnight rain, the fairways looked like they hadnt been touched in a while and times you couldnt tell where the greens started and the fairway finished, in saying that the greens ran true. Overall not overly impressed but inside, WOW!

Played Dunston Hall today on the GTour. It is a lovely setting for a golf course but such a shame the golf course doesn't live up to it.
The fairways are shocking!! worst I've played for sometime. Greenside bunkers had very little sand in them,more like the amount you would find in a fairway bunker.
The greens weren't that bad to be fair.
It is tight with lots of trees and not too many "smash it and hope" holes.
I'd play it on the GTour again but wouldn't on any other occasion unless the condition improves.The Course

If I'm honest not my favourite of the De Vere course but still a tough track. The one thing you have to be is straight as its very narrow but I don like how the course is layed out, it's not just blasting a driver down the fiarway all the time, it's very much a thinkers course. Would still recommend you play here.

Despite the Fairways suffering as most courses are with the weather. The greens are in terrific condition.
The rough has been well maintained and the ground staff have done an excellent job.
Facilities are excellent. Driving range, pitching green and putting green ( oh and the Bunkers Bar ) . Are all close to the well equipped pro shop.

Lovely golf course set in beautiful surrounding. It is let down a little by the quality of the fairways and greens,they're not really what I expected at this type of course,they should be a lot better but apart from that I really enjoyed playing here.
It is quite a technical course,not 1 to spray the driver all over the place,tight fairways,lots of water and mature woodland,plenty of out of bounds.
The facilities were excellent and I look forward to playing here again.

Considering last year the course had severe green damage it was very playable. 6th and 16th still difficult due to water. 19th hole Par 3 replaced 9th hole which was under repair was challenging

I join this club in june and in just two months the greens have come on leaps and bounds. the driving range and pratice area are very good. You dont have to get driver out on every hole and you have to put your ball in the correct position to get to some tough pin positions.
