What the club says: A stunning links course, it has been recently placed as the 50th best course in Britain and Ireland by "Golf World". Initially laid out by Tom Morris in the 19th century, it was revised by Archie Simpson into the layout it is today and is very much a traditional links with humps, hollows and numerous blind shots. Offering spectacular views of Slains Castle, it is a picturesque and challenging test of golf.

What Golfshake says: Two things you need to know about Cruden Bay: the views over the course from the clubhouse are spectacular; the views from the 9th tee are even better.

There’s a third thing, too: the course promises a glorious golfing day out. This is links golf that dates back over 100 years and all that such history and tradition entails. Blind shots, lethal run-offs around greens, deep rough, rumbling unpredictable fairways, elegant and natural routing… and thrills every step of the way. Cruden Bay is blessed with dunes of every size and shape, and they are used to perfection to create a par 70 that weaves through and over them in a figure of eight.

It is the type of course that once you have played it, you will want to head straight back to the 1st tee. The 14th is one of the most intriguing holes you will ever play.

Golf trip to North East Scotland

I played Royal Aberdeen the previous day and popped into Trump International on my journey up to Cruden Bay. I thought nothing could beat those…..I was wrong. As soon as we pulled up into the car park we experienced the ‘wow’ factor. Even the car parking spots well of a very generous size which I know will mean something to most of us who have our car doors jammed against each other in most car parks.
The staff were welcoming and friendly.
Though what makes this place special is the fabulous course, both challenging and beautiful. Old Tom Morris has built a masterpiece; no two holes the same, just enough heavy rough and gorse to help keep you focused on those well laid out fairways.
The other fantastic experience here are both the views from the course and from the Clubhouse. I think you can actually see eight of the greens from the Clubhouse bar/restaurant, sea views and all.

Wonderful Cruden Bay

Might be my favourite course anywhere. Breathtaking scenery. Massive dunes. The routing of the course through the dunes is brilliant. Plus and it’s a big plus, the people running the club are lovely.

as good as it gets...make sure you play from the white tees..never played a better par 3 than the 4th....then comes the fantastic 5th....and it keeps on delivering quality...no two holes the same...if you don't get this amazing course you need to take up bowls...icing on the cake the best view from any 19th ...try & enjoy

Overpriced and not friendly to visitors, good course though, but club appear just to cater for overseas players.
