First Class

Course was in excellent condition, greens were slow but challenging, the setting is lovely. Some very interesting holes, bit of everything for golfers of varying degrees I would say, but lovely club house and plenty of parking. We started at 1 and it was nearly dark when we finished, club house has stopped food half hour before we finished and we were starving, so that's the only negative.

Great Sussex course

Lovely course and lovely weather. Fairways were in great condition, some sand on the greens which was a shame but it is nearly October. Hole 16 was my favourite with the water. Good to see loads of benches. Course is well laid out.

Fantastic course in great condition!!

Played 19/04/2019. Course was in great condition and very well maintained. Some challenging holes especially off the back sticks. Well worth visiting for a round.

Beware when the wind blows

We played when there was a strong westerly wind which meant all the par fives were into the wind. Made it very tough. Great course with plenty of variation and greens were good.

Played the course on Friday the 13th. Never been here before and found it difficult to see where Pro Shop was after parking. It looks like it has a health club with it. Walked into reception and saw it was the pro shop/health reception. Not that much golf stuff on display, as mixed in with leotards and swimming costumes. That said, there was a great vibe in the clubhouse, lots of ladies and chatter, so much better than walking into a clubhouse that feels like a morgue. Booked in and got ready for the round. Reception staff very friendly and helpful, much better than a bored grumpy pro shop guy that you are met with at other clubs !! Directed to the first T. Standing on the first T there was a very strong wind into the face, don't know if this is usual wind direction ? I found the course great. Some very nice holes and contours. Loved the 2nd hole with the green raised to the left slightly. 3rd was a pleasing on the eye Par 3. The greens for this time of year were very good. Some firmer than others, but that's due to some more open to the wind/elements to dry them out. The greens have some great contours on them, and am looking forward to coming back to play in the summer when they will be faster. On the 5th I badly mis-judged my put as pin was on top level. Didn't reach the top, ball turned on its heels and slowly but surely rolled all the way down and off the green. Harsh but fair as I should have got it on the top level. 6th is a great par 4. Aim to leave the ball 150yds out, that way you are on the flat for 2nd to the green. Although the course is quite open, it is still a joy to play. For a first visit, early in the year when other courses are looking under par, I found Chartham Park to be very good indeed. Dry under foot, good firm greens with good pace. It seems to have been etched out of farmland, as are a lot of newer courses in the Surrey/Sussex area, and this for me is possibly the best mix of holes and feels least like holes just dumped on the land. The architect has done a great job with the land.

A favourite course

Course was in great condition, greens were fabulous. A lovely course to play with easy walking, not too hilly just a few slopes. Some very interesting holes. A delight to play.

Lovely course to visit

How have I never heard of this course before.A lovely course with mature trees it was so hard to choose a worst hole out of the 18.Despite the greens having been worked on recently they had recovered enough so as not to spoil our game but will definitely be visiting again to see what they are really like.The course was in great condition and a credit to the green keeping staff.Excellent value.
