What the club says: Canons Brook has one of the best courses in the region. Designed by the legendry Sir Henry Cotton and matured over 40 years, it presents a truly engaging golf experience with lots of variety and all located in a beautiful setting. With experienced, qualified professionals and a well-equipped Pro Shop run by First Fore Golf, your technique and equipment needs are well-catered for too, with the use of launch monitor technology.

Situated in 112 acres of mature rolling countryside the 18 hole, 6769 yard, par 73 championship length course makes excellent use of the surrounding landscape and its numerous natural and man-made hazards and beautiful features.

The course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton, whose philosophy was to create a championship length course with very little rough, but incorporating many bunkers and large undulating greens, a task he accomplished in style. The course was opened in 1966.

A broad repertoire of shots are required to master the course, which demands that every golfer regardless of standard, is rewarded for thoughtful and skilful play rather than for power alone.

Definitely worth a visit

Very enjoyable course to play. Some challenging holes requiring thoughtful Club selection and accurate shots. Despite being wet and boggy in places course in excellent condition. Greens soft and spongy but running very true. Expect them to be very good in summer!

The course is moderately challenging with a reasonable undulating walk. It's kept in great condition.

Wrong Day to Visit

Visited on a hot day. Greens were well kept but slower than expected. The pace of play was extremely slow and there was a lack of etiquette from the group in front in terms of noise and allowing play through when they held up play. Some were not in the club's dress code (just t shirts and trainers), so suspect they know about courtesies.

Enjoyable Course

Great day's golf. Course in very good condition, especially the greens. Some work being done on some fairways and bunkers but nothing excessive to disrupt your round.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend for individuals and Societies
Obviously COVID restrictions still in place

Play here once a year in a match. Course was in good nick given recent weather. Course itself has an interesting layout and is well worth playing. Friendly and well looked after in the bar pre and post round with excellent food.

a very nice course , in a built up town , but you wouldnt know it , some great and testing holes , the greens had just been treated , so wet and sandy , but you could tell under normal conditions they would be well kept and fast , will be visiting again soon
