Bulbury Woods Golf Club
Considered one of the finest courses in Dorset, the 6,300 yard par 72 course comprises a front and back nine of two very different styles. On the way out the fairways and greens have a very American feel, which provides a wonderful contrast to the more traditional layout of the second nine.Contact Information

A short course but with a good variety of holes. Most fairways are tree-lined, making accuracy far more important than length. Unfortunately after an interesting round the last five holes are pretty much dead straight with the exception of the par 5 16th, which as a par 4 would be another nice hole but as a par 5 is a definite birdie opportunity for all handicaps at only 456 yards. The greens, whilst not particularly fast, are true, smooth and receptive, and very rarely flat - putting here is rarely straightforward. The rest of the course I would say is averagely well kept, my main complaint being the grass is quite thin - possibly due to the fact that the course seems to retain water, and can get very damp; probably much better in the summer.
A decent round if you're in the area, but I wouldn't travel too far to play it. Within 10-15 miles, Canford Magna and Moors Valley offer better golf at similar prices, and also the Dorset Country Club if you're willing to pay a little more.

Fairways are a bit up and down but trees along fairways shield you from other players. Greens are fantastic.

interesting course, very challenging, mainly tree lined fairways and a couple of cracking par 5's.

Bulbury Woods is excellent. Travelling "south" from Woking, it is a hidden gem in Bournemouth. Played here a few times. Very quiet location, and good selection of interesting holes, and a great venue. Good value for money, and the staff are welcoming and friendly.

Established some 20 years ago on former farm land, this course is something of a "mixed bag". The quality of the fairways is poor but the greens are excellent and the bunkers are well maintained; some holes are nicely shaped and attractive whilst others are flat and straight. With 241 offers readily available, £12.50 is reasonable value, but no more than that.

Once again the course produced a really great afternoon of golf with a fair layout and very quick greens. The front nine carries 2 par fives which is a really nice opportunity for the long hitters to make some birdies. The nine also has 2 par 3's the second of which is the 7 th and called " The Folly " so you have been warned this is not an easy hole. The 9 th is a challenging par 5 as it is a possible score card wrecker with out of bounds all the way up the right hand side. The second nine is really great and it has loads of variety and it will test your accuracy even on its tight par 5. One of the best holes on the course is the 14th aptly called " Waters Edge " as there is water around the green waiting to capture in accurate second shots. The course was very neatly kept and the bunkers were well raked by the golfers. The course has blue posts which mark 150 yards to the center of the greens which is helpful when playing the course for the first time.

Provides an enjoyable game of golf for mid to high handicappers.
Quite hilly in places.
Usually in good condition, however, some areas can be a bit soft underfoot.
Nice clubhouse.

Really tight challenging course. Superb grounds and views of the Dorset countryside.
Gets a bit soggy in the winter. Fortunately there are no bears in the woods which is where I spend the majority of my time! The Course

You have to be accurate otherwise like me you end up hacking out of trees, rough, other fairways and bunkers.16th is a test if you analyse it it should be easy- 400+ but the tee is set between two rows of trees so aleast a drive- a straight drive of 100-150 is required.Greens sometimes fast but its in good condition.
