Poor
Played the Melbourne course. Pro shop not very helpful or at all enthusiastic about welcoming visitors. And for the price of the green fees the least I would expect is the bunkers to be raked over every morning. Some of them looked untouched for days. This venue and courses deserve much better maintenance, and service than it is getting at present.

Melbourne course
Played the Melbourne for a change, not played it in a long while. Friendly starter, nice practise area convenient for the first. Course is a good test, several excellent par 4's, water in play 5 times. Never liked the first hole, apart from that it's the strongest Clark/Alliss layout I know of. Both courses deserve to be in the top 10 in Hertfordshire if we are just talking about design.Sadly, brocket is better known these days for various financial shenanigans, and it's now very obvious in the condition of the course. The quoted green fees are extremely steep, which is fine but I have to judge what is on offer against that price. Fairways are extremely bare after a dry few weeks. Greens pretty good, 8 on the stimp, but you'd expect quicker for the price. Several tees, not to mention the grass practise area, are completely brown, which is bizarre as they have sprinklers, which are obviously not operational. Brocket has to work out how to get some of the several billion gallons of water from the lake onto the course, it really can't be that hard.
Not surprisingly, the course was completely empty. At the moment, it compares very poorly to other courses in the area that ask for rather less money. The academy should be a great selling point, but I visited letchworths a few weeks ago and it is considerably better.
Over rated on here by a lot, needs to get its act together.

The Palmerston course is very challenging, open with some lovely views of hertforshire. The course is very nicely layout with hidden greens making each shot a challenge.
The greens I have to say were very poor. The speed of the ball on the green was very slow resulting in having to put more swing on the putter. Also i have say the course is very badly signed as many of the holes cross over, causing confusion on where next to go next.
