What the club says: Brierley Forest Golf Club is located in a wooded area, which makes for a truly outstanding location in which to enjoy a round of golf. Whether you are a high handicapper or relatively newer to the game altogether, you will find plenty here to keep you on your toes throughout so be sure to keep your concentration and temperament in the face of some extremely tricky hazards which will have you scratching your head in bewilderment at times as how best to successfully negotiate your way around them. The course is excellently maintained all throughout the year by the dedication and tremendous efforts of the greenkeeping staff.

good coarse for being on line and getting distance correct or you in trouble on a lot of hole for a beginner it make you learn (Round played: Aug 2014 - Score: 123 Handicap: 28)

The course is laid out well and in good condition, greens are a little hard and difficult to hold on approach shots. The course is quite tricky with a good mix of "let it rip" and "plot you way" holes. (Round played: Aug 2014 - Score: 89 Handicap: 12)

Nice course and really friendly members. Helps if youve played it before as one or two holes are quite quirky. (Round played: Jun 2014 - Score: 86 Handicap: 14.2)

Heard lots about this course and decided to go for a game. Not a bad little course really but tees are poor, greens are small but firm and you can't stop a ball on them leading to frustration. It's obviously a friendly place but there needs to be a LOT of investment to make it any good, and even then I don't think there's enough room to expand it into something great.

Don't waste your money playing here fellow golfers. Greens are rock-hard, tees are shocking to say the least and there's damage that looks like the Grand National has been run on it. Add to this other groups (that were obviously members) shouting across holes to each other and one player who had his dog with him running up and down the fairways!! Avoid.

Moorland type course fairly flat front 9.last nine on sloped edge with some challenging angles to the greens.Fairways are fairly well maintained and you would have to be off your game to miss them.Watch out for the small pond hidden from view you would have to clear this on your 3/4 shot. I played here after hearing good reviews - Wish I'd not bothered! ... The course is like a mudbath, small poor greens and the tees are pathetic. I've recently played the course at Mansfield Golf Club & Range and it made Brierley look like a joke. Even the staff at Brierley didn't have a good word to say about the place. I will be returning to Mansfield with my membership fee!!!

Couldn't really be faulted. Played off mats due to wet weather but fairway and greens in good condition given the weather! Really friendly clubhouse staff (Round played: Dec 2013 - Score: 125 Handicap: 28)

Could write loads about this course. What I will say is, what a great peace of real estate
to build a good course on !! PITY THEY DIDN'T .
Greens: a mess ( no sprinkler system )
Tees : a bigger mess, most non existent
Fairways; well fair really, at least they were cut
No practice net- AstroTurf putting green ( you've got to be kidding )
Verdict; could be reasonable but needs a very large shed load of work !!!

Its almost a year since I last played but what a difference.
Gone is the porter cabin, they have converted the old White Lion pub, and its stunning full bar and food and generous seating wow I said looks mint lol
Also the old waste ground is now being converted to a 9 hole par 3, so things have moved on
The course was in good shape a few fairways still had grass cutting on them and a few greens need some more tlc, but tee boxes were loads neater, over all looks loads more maintained and things are heading in the right direction
First 9 still a nice warm up for the last 9, which again kicked me in the teeth lol
but recovered to post my best ever score on full 18 holes to date
Keep up the great work guys, I think you have a little gem on the cards
Well Done (Round played: May 2013 - Score: 89 Handicap: 22.6)

25-07-2012 WENT TO PLAY A CHEAP ROUND OF GOLF £10 FOR 18 HOLES SOUNDS CHEAP TO START, BUT PRACTICE RANGE IS A WOODEN STRUCTURE WITH 4 RIPPED UP MATS. THE LANDING AREA IS WASTELAND NO MARKERS WITH ANY DISTANCES ON THEM. BALLS ARE IN A TUBE 20 ISH BALLS £1 THEY WERE COVERED IN SLUDGE AND SOIL. ONTO THE COURSE. T BOXES HAVE NOT BEEN CUT GRASS TOO LONG. GRASS CUT ON SOME FAIRWAYS BUT LEFT IN BIG CLUMPS, HIT A NICE DRIVE TO LAND ON FAIRWAY THEN THE SEARCH FOR THE BALL BEGINS UNDER THE GRASS CUTTINGS. SOME BUNKERS HAVE WATER IN THEM SOME HAVE BIG WEEDS GROWING IN THEM. DOG OWNERS JUST LET THEIR DOGS RUN ALL OVER THE PLACE, WHAT IS THE RULE IF YOUR BALL LANDS IN DOG MESS. JUST ABOUT TO T OFF AT THE 18TH WHEN SOME FOOL DECIDES TO USE THE FAIRWAY FOR SOME PITCHING PRACTICE TO THE 18 GREEN WITH HALF A DOZEN BALLS. DONT LET ME GET IN YOUR WAY I SAID AS I GOT NEAR HIM, IM JUST MESSING ABOUT HE SAID YES I CAN SEE THAT WAS MY REPLY AS I PICKED MY BALL UP AFTER JUST 1 SHOT AND WALKED OFF IN DIS-BELIEF STRAIGHT BY THE PORTA CABIN CLUB HOUSE. DO YOUR SELF A FAVOUR AND KEEP AWAY ITS AWFUL WISH I HAD ASKED FOR MY MONEY BACK

a lovely first 9 but back 9 very tricky for the not so experienced, very hilly and up and down in places, par 5 holes are up and down adjacent to each other, didnt like them when i played them, also very sloping towards each other, you need to play the round several times to get the course, tricky (Round played: Aug 2011 - Score: 42 Handicap: )

The reception from the staff and members is welcoming. The course has a nice layout, very challenging and you need good course management. The course is NOT WELL MAINTAINED though which is a pity. The tee boxes need a lot of work, and the greens are in an AWFUL state, with big bold patches dotted about on them.
