Bramley GC

An unusual course with a mix of flat and hilly holes. The greens were well kept and quite a challenge to read. In very good condition with plenty of parking and a large club house with friendly and helpful staff.

Bramley is tough little gem of a course in Surrey

From the driveway onto the course with the 1st hole crossing the entrance, you are met with a great look at the impressive clubhouse. Here for the Seniors Open, so expected a course in great condition and hospitality to match. I wasn't disappointed. Bramley isn't the longest of courses, only around 5600 yards from the yellow tees, but it is very challenging. You will get a fair amount of sloping lies with the ball above and below your feet and uphill and downhill lies as well. It tests your full game. There are some good holes with the 2 x par 3's, the 3rd and 4th holes crossing each other. One over 200 yards uphill and the other 170 yards downhill, both are tough, but not as tough as the stroke index 2 , par 4, 5th. It sweeps downhill then steeply uphill to a green that is hidden from the fairway. It is only just over 320 yards, but it deserves its SI rating. The 10th is a good hole with water on 3 sides of the green, then the short par 4 11th, with a dogleg to the right, prevents driver use, more positional play. The 12th is another long par 3, but the finishing stretch can be a card wrecker. The 16th is a long par 4, with OOB all down the right, is a good hole and the picturesque par-3 17th give you a good chance for a birdie or par, but don't go left, as water protects that side of the green. Then the sweeping, slightly uphill 18th is a good finishing hole. There are some steep inclines around the course, so be aware. The course was immaculate as you would expect for an Open competition, with no complaint about tees, fairways or greens. The bunkers had plenty of sand in them as well. The clubhouse was welcoming and the catering provided, a running buffet, had a good selection of food. There is a decent selection of beers on tap to keep you refreshed as well. Facilities include, a small driving range a good size putting green and a couple of driving nets too. The pro-shop stocked all you could want too. All in all, Bramley is a lovely club and I'd recommend a visit.

Great course in the Surrey Hills

A course requiring a number of clubs and shapes off the tee, great changes of elevation and lovely views. Investment in the course means it's the best it's been for 7 years. Great clubhouse and food too.

Great course in the Surrey Hills

Tee shots on several holes call for good positional pay. Good greens with decent borrows and some water hazards that make you think, especially on the stunning par 3 17th from the white tee. A gem just South of Guildford

Nice course

Nice course.
Short but very tricky and quirky with demanding tee shots.
You have to play an assortment of shots - fades and draws to get rewards.
greens had been treated and they will be even more challenging once they bed down.
Lovely clubhouse and friendly relaxed atmosphere.

Really good course

When we booked we were advised that the course was receiving some maintenance work but that it would only affect a couple of holes. When we tee'd off we seemed to be preceded by the maintenance team who were sanding and seeding the greens one by one. In the end we actually only played 3 greens and the rest were temps. The point of explaining this was not to complain but to compliment the team at Bramley for being so understanding in allowing us to return another time free of charge when the greens have settled. I can't wait to play this course again as it has so much to offer. Not the longest course but thoroughly recommended. Breakfast was superb.

Gorgeous course

You pretty much know as you drive into the car park that this James Braid designed course isn't going to let you down, and after that it's just about enjoying the round.

This isn't the longest course, there are only a couple of par 5's, but the fairways aren't always the widest and the greens have a lot of bunkers protecting them, so you're going to have to play well to score well.

There are so many varied, pretty and interesting holes, that it's hard to pick a favourite. The par 3's all seem to be very pleasing on the eye, with the pick probably being the downhill 17th, where a lake awaits all tee shots straying left.

As for the condition, the tees and fairways were really good, while the greens were decent without being spectacular. The bunkers were the only area which I thought were a little disappointing, with very little sand on top of any of the (numerous!) bunkers I visited.

This certainly isn't a flat course, and expect to do a decent amount of uphill walking over the first 5 holes. After that it flattens out a little. The walk is worth it though.

Whilst I didn't visit the clubhouse, it does look a very impressive building standing above the 1st/18th holes. The welcome in the pro shop was very warm and friendly too.

In case you haven't worked it out yet, I totally recommend Bramley GC!

Quality parkland course

Attractive parkland course. Decent clubhouse. Hills added complexity to some holes, some tighter drives, and ponds, makes for a course you need to plot your way around. Will play again.

Beautiful course

Played this course for the first time and was very impressed. Not the longest course but it has a few holes that's very hilly with slopy fairways and some with blind second shots to even things out. The greens were in excellent condition but the fairways were struggling. You have to be fairly accurate and play well to have a decent score (which I managed on the day!)
