Very poor condition

Course was in very poor condition, very very muddy!
Poor drainage and not 1 fairway cut on the front 9 holes.

Back 9 condition was better, less mud and some actual fairways.
I would not play is course in the winter, might play better in summer

Great value course

Played for the first time in a while and course in much better condition than previously and greens true and tricky. Very good value compared to other neighbouring courses.

In the winter months it gets very wet. In the warm weather it is really good. with excellent greens. Bunkers need some work! Driving range is good also with many bays available. The bar and food are excellent and a reasonable price also! Sometimes it is slow going with little motivation for people to get a move on! That can be frustrating!

Nice!

As a returning to golf player, Bird Hills is perfect. Plenty of space for those wayward drives but still a good challenge.

Good firm conditions

A few days of dry weather have made the greens firm. Need to land on fringe and let it roll on, otherwise the ball will not stay on the green.

Course was not in great condition

This is a really nice course in the summer time but this time of year, it was a challenge, a lot of fairways water logged just off the tee box and greens were not in the greatest conditions either.
Its a shame, a lovely course.

I play here regularly, usually during the week when it is better value for money. It suffers with being wet in parts and at the moment it is a boggy walk. Strangely the greens are pretty fast and in decent condition. Play was fairly slow (3 balls 4.30 hours) as the course was busy in front of us but we didn't really wait for long on tees, it was just busy. Friendly staff, good beer

Dreadful greens

The course was always dull (like many of its era and kind, it was put together 30 or so years ago on an uninspiring piece of mainly flat land and lined with avenues of quick growing leylandii spruce with the odd square pond here and there) but up until a couple of years ago, it was always in pretty good nick.
Not any more.
The greens these days are basically unplayable with OK (if grainy and carpet like) grass covering 1/2 the greens with the other half bare. I'm not exaggerating - I mean dozens of bare patches on each and every green. Meaning your putts will bobble and jump and never roll true.
The managers and course owners will say that's a result of a) Covid and b) this summer's heatwave.
Uh huh.
So why are all the other local courses not suffering with the same.
When the late Blue Mountain course had a similar dive in condition and playability, the owners halved green fees out of sheer embarrassment.
Bird Hills should do the same.
RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the dullest course in Berkshire with the worst greens I've played on in 30 years.
Avoid.
Please.

The greens are like a plowed field. I know we've had a drought, but lots of golf courses have looked after their greens far better. ?36 for what is far worse than my local municipal course is not really on.
