Birchwood Golf Club
Birchwood is an 18 hole championship course designed and built on 240 acres of rolling parkland. Built in the 1970's unlike other golf courses of an earlier design Birchwood offers a challenge to all levels of golfing capability.
The layout provides the player with a variety of shot making which will test the expertise of all fourteen clubs in the bag. Many holes have been designed with water features which bacame an integral part of play. Other holes are tree lined with features involving sand bunkers and grass bankings. Contact Information

Take your wellington boots and leave your golf shoes in the car. Green fees look reasonable until you add the obligatory hedgehog trolley.
Pity really because it is a good course, fair challenge and great bar and food.
If we get a summer give it a try but forget the other nine months. The Course

Nice course especially the back nine that features some interesting holes. You should score below your handicap on this course though.

Good Course, some fairways quite narrow, lost some balls. 19th pleasant and they do food also, try the ham and stilton pannini. Have to agree with previous comments and also say there is quite a lot of water and residential areas to look out for.

good course in general, couple of strange holes let it down, notably the 9th, have to take 5or 6 iron off the tee then 3 wood for second shot.the course can get very wet though especially in the winter.

Lovely parkland course with some really interesting and challenging holes. It is the best in the area and worth travelling to.
Avoid it at the weekends though as for some reason they allow societies to play here at the weekends and the rate of play is painfully slow. The final straw was when I had a 1½ hour queue on the first tee and it took 6½ hours to get around. They have a starter but he doesn't seem to venture away from the first tee and sort out the painful slow play. It is a real shame how they pack players onto this course and it is becoming more and more expensive.
All that said, I still think it is the best course in the area, just play there out of peak hours.
Great modern clubhouse with good value food. The Course

Played here twice over the last 4 days and what a course, i was a member of a course 7 yrs ago and vowed never to become a 1 course golfer but i must say that this is certainly a big temptation, everything about the place from the friendly club captain who entertain our party for some 20 mins today!! The Par 5 11th is something to be hold a 3 shot par 5 if ever i have seen one! This course is a pleasure what ever the conditions having hit a respectable 88 on the calm day and a hard working 99 in todays gale force winds!!
