Bedlingtonshire Golf Club
Acorn Bank, Bedlington, Northumberland, NE22 6AA United Kingdom
The course is parkland measuring 6813 yards, par 73, standard scratch 73, and can prove a real test of golf, particularly in windy conditions. All but 3 holes were part of the former opencast coal site. A large number of conifer and deciduous trees and shrubs have been planted which have now matured giving beautiful tree lined fairways. The course demands good straight drives and accurate iron play into tight and bunkered greens.
The facilities include generous practice areas for putting, chipping and bunker shots and a separate practice area for general irons and woods practice. Experienced pro shop staff, excellent catering and a warm welcome awaits you at Bedlingtonshire Golf Club.Book a Tee Time

Very long. Holes can seem a bit 'sameish'. There is a run of 4/5 holes at the far end of the course 13/14/15 which are very pleasant.

The course was in very good condition. Play was a little slow due to a golf society.

Good course - well maintained - only drawback is the club house and the changing room areas - difficult to get meals after rounds

Good Beginner course. Very open. Allows for slight mistakes, looking forward to playing again soon. Disappointing that 2-4-1 vouchers can only be redeemed after certain times at weekends, nevermind.

a very well maintained course with very fast greens and testing bunkers. a good challenge for begginers and high handicappers, well worth a re-visit.

It had been a few years since I had played this course until a recent visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find the course in such good nick, particularly the greens which were immaculate. I think it would be fair to say that this course has matured over the years from a reasonably basic course but was in the best shape I had ever seen it - credit I think to the work of the groundstaff there. Historic tree planting is now beginning to reap some benefit by 'tightening' a few of the holes in terms of your need for accuracy off the tee.
The highlight of the course is a triumvirate of holes (13 to 15) as you enter the mature parkland on the outskirts of Hartford Hall. However there are plenty of other tough holes to test your ability. One thing is for sure though - you will need your driver on this course as it is long but the big hitters will benefit from some Par 5s that are reachable in two, notably the two opening holes that can offer a decent start to your scoring.
Clubhouse has a fine position over the 18th Green - a long Par 5 and offers decent value.
A high membership means that getting on to the course can be an issue with limits in place at certain times for non members. One minor gripe was that I was asked to change my tailored shorts on my last visit as there were pockets on the outside?!! I have worn the same shorts at several courses of higher prestige and never been questioned before - something I was a little taken aback by - particularly as the club had never previously shown any inclination for snobbishness - one of my pet hates in golf.
