Beckenham Place Park Golf Club
Bursting with wildlife and greenery, Beckenham Place Park really is one of London's best-kept secrets.
The park was acquired by John Cator in 1773 and he quickly restored the mansion to it's former glory. His father in law, Peter Collinson, an early landscape architect and botanist, introduced to the grounds many exotic trees and a lake (now drained). The Cator family became one of the largest landholders in the area, and at one time the Cator estate spread from Shortlands to Sydenham Hill. In the late 19th Century the house was used as a boys school and it then became a sanatorium.
Beckenham Place Park is now the home of one of England's largest and busiest public golf courses. The 18 hole golf course meanders through the ancient woodland of the park. With great variations in length and elevation on a number of holes this is a challenging and enjoyable course to play.

Course in great condition, a bit dodgy of temporary tees, not easy to get a tee to stand up !

very challenging public course,the 5th 247yrd par 3 ..awesome..lots of divots but 1 by 1 i'll put em back lol last 4 holes up and down hill,not for the faint hearted,all in all ....a good round of golf even if you have to patient sometimes......!

Not the most imaginative course, pretty back and forth and a bit hilly. However, good for a novice like me and pretty in parts. The back 9 is better than the front 9 but there is only one par 5. Can get busy (last round took 4 hours).

Cheap & Cheerful, i think they let over 60's play for £9 so if you get stuck behind one of these 4 balls your looking at a 5 hour round.
I've also had the pleasure of being stuck behind a 6 ball of skinheads with their tops off, i'm sure they wouldn't allow that at Wentworth!
Front 9 short and not very interesting, back 9 much improved with some memorable holes.
I used to play early in the morning and it would appear the pro shop would be broken into at least once a week.

beautiful back 9, need a lot of tlc i.e greens are not the best, no rakes in the bunkers and no yard markers but still worth a round

A public council run course set in undulating parkland. Wide fairways on a number of holes allow you to really rip into your drives particularly on the first and second hole, however errant direction can lead to your approach to the green being blocked off by some old large trees.
There are no water hazards to mention although a drainage channel across a couple of fairways can come into play when driving from the tee. Large trees on a number of holes can make tricky approaches particularly on the fifteenth hole.
There are no clubhouse facilties worth mentioning. The large mansion which overlooks the course and was once used as a clubhouse and museum appears to be shut up and slowly falling into disrepair.

Nice course but could do with a little more attention bunkers hardly ever raked no rakes for golfers use, greens not bad, rough usualy kept reasonably short.my local course and I do enjoy playing there. pay and play.

busy course ,well used but plenty of variety uphill,downhill,raised greens,gulleys,mature course and some hard greens.i like the variety but best to be a fourball at busy times.
