Furry Greens
If you are a serious golfer that wants to play courses that are maintained like your home club course then you should not bother. Greens can go days without being cut and therefore it makes it a lottery on the greens as it was not possible to read lines when the grass is as long as it was. I spoke to the pro shop after a round on Oakwood and the guy I spoke to did not care what I had to say, simply did not give a monkies what a paying customer had to say about the course, was not prepared to say anything in response to my comment... just about sums the whole place up. Cheap cheap cheap, like it or lump it, it is what it is. They don't care.Reviewer Rating

Course of 2 halves
Normally I won't drive 2 miles to play the front 9 of this course let alone over 200 miles, too many blind holes over terrain that is not suited to playing golf, however the back 9 consisted of holes that is more in keeping with how golf holes should be.They try to justify you having a buggy because of the long walks between holes and the steep drops which is very dangerous when dry and I personally wont attempt them when wet.

We had to have Buggies so you then end up walking back and forth across the fairway as buggies have to stay on paths which makes play very slow over 5 hours is just not good enough.
Handicaps 5 to 15

Fun par 3
Willows is a fun par 3 at Ashbury, just gets the old bones loose, before the main event. We play as a 3 club challenge, so lots of laughs.(Round played: Sep 2018 - Score: 70 Handicap: 14.2)

Safe to say you get what you pay for, courses look nice on the eye but the devil is in the detail. The greens were atrocious on all courses that we played. The need to keep buggies to the buggy paths meant rounds were over 5 hours long, which is unacceptable. Don't be fooled into thinking your can walk round though, some holes are quite literally miles away from each other!
The accommodation was very basic and in need of a refurb, rooms were small and the beds were well worn, as were the sheets and covers. A couple of our guys stayed in the sister hotel and were promised transfers as per the website but had to pay for taxis.
The standard of food was horrid and the service was abysmal within the restaurant. The bars closed too early with many people left in the bars having to drink up.
The facilities available were good, with free pool, snooker, tenpin bowling etc.
We never even played our last round, instead returning home to play our own course!
I think it is fair to say we won't be returning.

A kick in the teeth for the senior players
12 years playing at ashbury got to 70 a blue flag for buggy Now they have put the age 75 .this is crazy hope us older players don't stumble going back a forth to the buggy track..duty of care will be on the insurance claims. But I do think that it will put the older players of and will be going to more age friendly coarsesReviewer Rating
