The course is a beautifully maintained and cared for course. Even as a municiple and the hammering that it takes with hackers and non too careful golfers.
The club house is opened intermittently. Always closed mondays and wednesdays and usually only open between 11 and 3 the other 5 days!
The shop staff and green staff are knowledgable and work hard to make your golfing day better.

This is one of my favourite courses.
Hope you are fit as hilly and you wont get many even fairways.
A good rainge of holes with none the same.
I would recommend this course for any type of golfer.
Great course and great views,
You must play one of the best councel courses in the county.

Set in moorlands it is a testing course and being in a public park you need to be mindful of walkers.

Great course, quit hilly, let down by the lack of a club house which opens.

This was the first time I had played the course so had an open mind in what I would find. My initial reaction was that the facilities looked a little run down as the Hall the golf course was based in was to the most part unused, however the gardens were well maintained. The staff were friendly and as we were early we took the opportunity to use the putting green to get our eye in. The greens seemed very slow but in good condition. The first hole is pretty straight forward aided by a good drive and pitch I was on in 2 but managed to 3 put! This set the tone for the rest of my round as I did struggle with the pace of the greens all the way around, the greens were as the practice putting area, I would add however my playing partner got on with the greens a lot better than I. This however to me was a minor irritation as the course overall more than made up for this shortfall, really good views and a good layout made the round very enjoyable. One thing of note be prepared for the hilly terrain this is why there are so many good views. The course in not overly long apart from the 12th the only par 5, but it provides a fair test I would say for golfers of all abilities. I would definitely play again and recomend this course for people to try particularly if you through in the added incentive that it costs just £12 per round I found it excellent value for money.

Nice course for a Municipal, but usually very muddy in winter (better played in summer). Facilities are very basic but welcome is always friendly.

a good test of golf and in particular fitness. we took the crown golf society here and it was a very hot day. the hills seemed like mountains! for the price, a lovely course, well kept and alot of thinking involved. technically short, but turned out very long!!! well worth a visit. recommend to anyone for a challenge!

Who can complain hwen 18 holes costs £8.
Allestree is a park course with challenging tree lined fairways playing up and down hill.
Condition of the greens let a little to be desired.

Excellent value for money. For this type of course it is very pretty and well looked after. Beware of dog walks though!!! The course is ideal if you want to practice shot going either up or down hill as most of the holes are on some sort on incline.

Allestree has a very picturesque array of holes that, at times, equal some of the best in the country. However, being a municipal course it is not well maintained, some of the clientele have little golf etiquette and the course discipline is poor. Dodging walkers and pets is another hazard and if you don't walk at flanking speed you are in danger of being hit from the balls behind. Although this seems like a rant, I do really enjoy the course, it is testing and an excellent venue with a very good daily rate/season ticket price. In private hands it would be utterly exceptional.

This is a good course and if it was private could be one of the best around but being municipal the greens are left long and are therefore difficult to put on. I like to socialise after a round but more often than not, the facilities are closed
