a good test of golf and in particular fitness. we took the crown golf society here and it was a very hot day. the hills seemed like mountains! for the price, a lovely course, well kept and alot of thinking involved. technically short, but turned out very long!!! well worth a visit. recommend to anyone for a challenge!

Who can complain hwen 18 holes costs £8.
Allestree is a park course with challenging tree lined fairways playing up and down hill.
Condition of the greens let a little to be desired.

Excellent value for money. For this type of course it is very pretty and well looked after. Beware of dog walks though!!! The course is ideal if you want to practice shot going either up or down hill as most of the holes are on some sort on incline.

Allestree has a very picturesque array of holes that, at times, equal some of the best in the country. However, being a municipal course it is not well maintained, some of the clientele have little golf etiquette and the course discipline is poor. Dodging walkers and pets is another hazard and if you don't walk at flanking speed you are in danger of being hit from the balls behind. Although this seems like a rant, I do really enjoy the course, it is testing and an excellent venue with a very good daily rate/season ticket price. In private hands it would be utterly exceptional.

This is a good course and if it was private could be one of the best around but being municipal the greens are left long and are therefore difficult to put on. I like to socialise after a round but more often than not, the facilities are closed

Its a municiple course - but very well maintained.
Extremely hilly in places (Cardiac Hill) on the second.
The greens are so/so - but for a coucil run course - excellent.
I avoid it in Winter - too many winter greens.

a good course for all levels of handicap.
a very hilly course can be hard on the legs.
Green fees good with it being a local council run course.

On paper a shortish course, but lots of changes of elevation make it pretty hard work. A municipal course kept in good condition despite it being a public park. Suffers from the lack of refinements, ball washers, yardage markers and the like and it can get very muddy. Having said that, I'm convinced that if this course was in private hands it would be one of the best in the country (but therefore inaccessable to most of us hackers). Try it, but take plenty of balls.
