What the club says: Sitting at the foot of the Menteith Hills, on the southern border of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Aberfoyle is one of Scotland’s most scenic and interesting golf courses.

The views from the course are breathtaking. From Ben Lomond in the west, down the upper valley of the River Forth to the bulwark of Stirling Castle, the scenery is magnificent.

The course itself is quite short, but requires a wide variety of imagination and shotmaking. It is ideal for both high and low handicap players and is an ideal country location for group outings. The recently refurbished clubhouse offers a friendly and informal welcome to all.

Enjoyable round on a hilly course.

Course in great condition. Honesty box. Facilities fine. Some tough hills to navigate but that was expected.

Best unheard of course in Scotland

Views from this course are spectacular - Ben Lomond. And every hole is different with its own challenges. If you're fed up with the bog standard 280 yard driving holes of most courses then this is for you. Really tests your approach shots and your club selection off the tee. Fantastic greens, even in December!!!

Not for the faint hearted

This is a very pretty course close to north Glasgow. It is not huge, but it is challenge both mentally and physically. There are very sloping fairways, lots of up and downs to the sometimes hidden and small greens, doglegs, trees (lots) and fairwayside vegetation that could conceal a WW2 Japanese army division.
The local members we encountered were very friendly and were quick to offer advice.
If you are a high handicapper, take plenty of spare balls. If you are a reasonable player, enjoy the stiff challenge and the views.

Short course, but don't be fooled, there's plenty blind shots on this course, 13th is a great looking par 3
Down hill. Then you have hardest hole next, it's all up hill and has 2 markers to aim for, 1st and 2nd shot if your not a long hitter, course in good nick, greens were great condition.
Fun challenging wee course 8.5/10 for me ????????

Not for the faint or weak hearted. This course is a real challenge being laid on very undulating land with some fairways causing the ball to run away. Many of the holes had uphill shots or shots from elevated positions, and rarely did you have a shot from the level, in many instances with only marker posts to aim at. The day we played was sunny and clear and the views were fantastic. Some people were carrying there bags but I don't believe I'd have managed that. When we played the greens had been treated so weren't in great condition. But certainly an experience to be remembered.

Very short course requiring local knowledge/course management.

Six par threes all between 5th and 13th, but some great views and a few hilly climbs. Apart from 9th and the 18th virtually no need for a driver, but plenty of slopping fairways and greens. The 4th green is just 4 paces wide in places

Special mention to the green keeper for helping to find my ball on the 9th.

At £20 not cheap but great fun

Superb short course but don't let the word short put you off as this course is all about course management and plotting your way around. A must play for the better players as high handicappers will find it very difficult.

Tees : Good
Fairways : superbly maintained.
Greens : immaculate and true
Overall: A must play with loads of fantastic holes. Views from the course are brilliant.

Lovely wee course. Challenging for the high handicapper - lots of narrow fairways and blind approach shots. Thinking your way around is a must. Lovely views from the top (well, there would have been had it not been raining!) and though there was some standing water, the course was in good condition for it. One to return to - and improve the score.

Aberfoyle is a cracking little course that really plays with the mind and when the wind is up can be extremely tricky to conquer. It is relatively short but by no means easy with no par 5 holes however this is countered by the natural layout of the course meaning course management has to be spot on otherwise what looks like a good chance of birdie or par can turn into a cricket score.

With some fantastic holes and scenery it is a must play course. Excellent food and bar on offer at reasonable prices at the Gateway To The Trossachs.
