Very Poor condition
Played in a 3 ball, afternoon of 10th May. The course was in poor condition on many fronts, a couple of avoidable examples being - Piles of grass cuttings sitting in front of entry point to greens and bunkers, stopping the balls roll (could live with the grass in front of bunker !! But not the grass preventing ball rolling onto greens). Unevenly and badly cut fairways, the grass on majority of fairways was too long, bunkers in terrible condition with weeds thriving in the majority. I have played the course many times going back years, however will not be returning until the basic course maintenance is significantly improved.Reviewer Rating

Terrible greens
Pype Hayes is a really good municiple golf course. Unfortunately at the moment the greens are in terrible condition and this really lets the whole course down. They have increased prices recently, but the standard of the course currently does not reflect the increased costs. Sort the greens out and this course is a real gem.Reviewer Rating

Below Par
Although this quite a challenging and interesting course, some aspects of the course are very disappointing. The bunkers are awful with a lack of sand inmost of them. The greens are generally poor and the pathways are overgrown and I'll maintained. I don't know what's happened to the practice greenas it does not exist. In my opinion the Birmingham Municipal Golf courses have deteriorated since Mytime took over.Reviewer Rating

Decent knock around; condition of a municipal
Good test of golf with a number of blind shots and deep bunkers. Greens weren't great.(Round played: Sep 2021 - Score: 88 Handicap: )

Interesting parkland course in suburbia
A lovely looking course hidden in amongst the housing of a suburban area. Interesting enough layout with varying uphill, downhill, sidehill lies. Condition not great at the moment, needed a wedge to get a putt in ????Reviewer Rating

Too many tees closed as was practice greens
Arrived at the course, only to find the practice greens were closed although they appeared in good condition. Soon found out that most of the tees had been moved forward and that you had to tee of mats, which to be honest are in need of replacing. I found it pretty impossible to put tees in them for driving. Fairways were in pretty good condition and cutting was being carried out. Greens also were decent also. Unfortunately, I was behind 4 very slow older players, who did not offer to let me through, especially when all 4 were looking for balls in bushes/trees! Fortunately, there was no one behind me! However, it gave me opportunity to practice some shots around greens after I'd finished them! One good thing that came of playing, was I hit my lowest score of 104.No Tommy Fleetwood, but hey no I've only been playing 18 months and nearly 60!Reviewer Rating

In decline
Pype Hayes is a good course to learn to play golf. Its short, accessible and relaxed.Beyond that, in my opinion it offers little else. ?20 midweek is steep compared to other local courses when taking into account the general condition of the course and the challenge.
Whilst the club house has improved dramatically over recent years the course has gone the other way. Noted for its excellent greens for a municipal they are now little better than a local park pitch and put. Bunkers poor and course is generally poorly kept
If your just starting out give it a go, other than that I would recommend you look elsewhere
