Redevelopment 2014

By: Golf Shake | Mon 04 Aug 2014

The redevelopment of Chippenham Golf Club came to a grand conclusion on the weekend of 17th and 18th May, with the opening of its completed new holes.

Four newly constructed holes, and a further three that have been modified, have dramatically improved the layout whilst adding some extra length to the course - the par has now been taken up to 72 for men and 74 for Ladies.

A couple of the new holes have already received very positive feedback, with the signature par three 13th, a drop hole, providing stunning views over the Wiltshire countryside.

The ambitious plan at Chippenham Golf Club
started over six years ago, and involved the sale of a parcel of land for the development of a care home and retirement village, which has effectively funded the construction of a new clubhouse and seven new holes.

General Manager, Leighton Walker commented, "This is a particularly historic moment for a club with over 100 years of history. The redevelopment of the clubhouse and course will see the club through the next 50 to 100 years and gives the members a product to be immensely proud of. It's great to see everything finally come to fruition. This will certainly bring Chippenham Golf Club back onto golfer's radars in the West Country, and we are already seeing an upsurge in visitor business." added Mr Walker.
