Open Door at Cheshire Golf Club

By: Golf Shake | Mon 14 Jul 2014

Would-be golfers in Cheshire can get in the swing to mark the return of the world’s biggest tournament to the region.

Tytherington Golf Club is holding a festival of golf at the same time as the Open is being fought out over the historic links at Royal Liverpool GC.

The event includes free coaching with families catered for at 10am on Saturday, July 19, and juniors at 2pm.

Free beginner group coaching takes place on Sunday, July 20, from 10am with Tri Golf at 2pm.

Contact the club – which can be found in Dorchester Way, Tytherington, near Macclesfield - on 01625 506 000 to book a place.

New beginner Golf 4 Women and Golf 4 All coaching sessions start at the club on Tuesday, September 2 at 11.30am and Sunday, September 7 (2.30pm).

The Open returns to Royal Liverpool Golf Club from July 17-21 for the first time since Tiger Woods won the coveted Claret Jug in 2006.

Craig Thomas, development officer for the Cheshire County Golf Partnership, says: “The chance to see the world’s best players at Hoylake will inspire a new generation of players and clubs across the county are ready to offer them an ideal introduction to the many health and social benefits that golf can bring throughout a lifetime.”

Get into golf is a national campaign to inspire adults to take up the game and is run by the England Golf Partnership through its network of County Golf Partnerships, supported by Sport England and National Lottery funding.

Get into golf opportunities include FREE taster session and low-cost beginner courses with PGA professionals. They are a fun and sociable way to start golf – and a great way to make new friends.
