Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open

By: | Thu 24 Apr 2014

St Omer Open

Aa Saint Omer is often cited as one of the most popular stops on the European and Challenge Tours and for good reason with it's stunning views and undulating fairways. It has been a regular fixture for a number of years, 2014 will see some of Europe's rising stars return to course in Northern France in search of golfing glory.

Part of the Najeti group, which boasts a collection of eight stunning hotels and three golf courses, the Saint Omer Open has entered a new era with Najeti Hotels as title sponsor keeping a crucial event on the Challenge Tour at the centre of the calendar.

The first Aa St Omer Open was held in 2000 and it has regularly proved a breeding ground for new talent with 9 first time European Tour winners coming in a row before Darren Fichart broke that trend in 2012.

2013 saw tough conditions with high winds testing Europe's finest golfers. After an tense final day two players were left tied on -5, Irishman Simon Thornton and South African Tjaart Van Der Walt. Thornton eventually prevailed to claim his maiden European Tour win with a par at the first extra hole after Van Der Walt found a greenside bunker.
