Herefordshire Gem, Ross-on-Wye, Awarded GolfMark

By: Golf Shake | Wed 06 Mar 2013

Ross-on-Wye Golf Club, located on the Gloucestershire / Herefordshire border has recently been awarded GolfMark accreditation.

The award was further enhanced by the club instantly being awarded "high achiever status", too.

Club Professional Tim Hall and the Management Committee were thrilled to achieve the award and as it demonstrates the club is committed to developing Junior Golf in a safe and welcoming environment. "This is a great achievement for the club and will not only benefit existing junior members but also the future of junior Golf at Ross-on-Wye" says Tim Hall.

Ross-On-Wye Golf Club recently implemented an 'Academy Junior Membership' which is aimed at beginner golfers with a view to building a bridge to full Junior Membership. It is hoped that positive work being carried out with local Schools will also lead to increased interest in the Academy Membership. "Through a bit of hard work and creating the right environment for young golfers, we expect to see real growth in Junior numbers over the coming years" said Mr Hall. The Secretary / Manager, Leighton Walker added, "Tim and his team have done a fantastic job in achieving GolfMark and the process was made easy by the many excellent initiatives and processes already put in place. Ross-on-Wye Golf Club offers the ideal facility for any young golfer looking to get into the game".

The Club will now look to utilise extra funding available to take Golf out into the community, in particular more local Schools.

Anyone interested in more details on Junior coaching available at Ross-on-Wye Golf Club should contact the club on 01989 720267.
