Captains Charity Golf Day at Mendip

In the information booklet for the day The Captain, Terry Russell said ‘my final wish is for the sun to shine’. Thankfully, the sun did shine and 136 golfers were able to compete on one of the best days of the month.

Competitors enjoyed a four ball bowmaker competition, with additional prizes for longest drives, nearest the pin in one and two and a target circle on the 17th hole. Before and after the competition players had the opportunity to take part in putting and chipping competitions, all raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Golfers enjoyed cider and hotdogs on the tenth tee and following their round there was time to relax and enjoy a meal in the Clubhouse accompanied by live music.

Later in the evening there was prize giving, an auction and a silent auction which continued to raise money for the Charity.

The day was supported by local businesses both large and small and by members who have contributed a great deal to help with the fundraising.  Many members also worked very hard during the day to ensure that it was a great success.

The total raised during the day brings the total raised so far this year to £9000.
